Ayup. Not just researchers either: police, EMS, ER staff, fire rescue, etc. etc. etc.
I’ve yet to see a psych hold that didn’t also involve significant (or heroic) drug use. There’s probably one or two out there on the tail end of the bell curve though.
Mental problems and substance abuse go together like chocolate and peanut butter. They complement and enhance one-another, until you can’t tell which is better - the screaming psychiatric case trying to bite you and spit on you or the screaming meth addict trying to bite you and spit on you.
