A rally scheduled for Thursday night has all the makings of a political boon to Tennessee State Sen. Joe Carr, who's challenging Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) in the Senate primary.
Stars of the Tea Party, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, are headlining the event. It's being organized by the Servier County Tea Party, a group that hails from Rep. Phil Roe's (R-TN) R+25 congressional district. And the rally is scheduled for two days after the Mississippi runoff, which, if state senator Chris McDaniel wins, could give Carr additional political momentum.
But Steve Osborn, the Chairman of the Sevier Country Tea Party is taking pains to make clear the event isn't about the Carr-Alexander matchup.
Carr won't be speaking at the event neither will Alexander and may not even attend, according to Osborn.
According to Osborn, the Carr campaign reached out to him about attending the rally, but he said that Carr could only attend if he bought a ticket. I dont believe that his schedule has allowed him to purchase a ticket, Osborn said.
The event, titled Americas Last Stand, will be held at the Sevierville Convention Center.
According to a flyer for the rally, Palin, former-Rep. Allen West and former-Sen. Rick Santorum will speak at the rally. Osborn explained that although he and members of his group supported Carr, the Republican primary challenger to Sen. Lamar Alexander was not invited to speak at the event.
As much as I like Joe Carr, I dont want this to be about any particular politician or any particular race, he said. Representatives from Carrs campaign are expected to be outside the event, handing out literature and campaign materials.
It is also unlikely that Palin will take the opportunity to officially endorse Carr at the event.

How did that dope get to be head of anything?
I am absolutely stunned AND stuned.
So it sounds like a big fundraiser for the Sevier Country Tea Party. To do what with exactly?
He’s a walking Richard with ears....
Enrich or empower the guy running it, not change things.
That would be my guess as well. I hope Palin and West aren't donating their time in the expectation that they're there to help the Conservative candidate in the primary.
Who is Steve Osborne working for, really?
This makes no sense.
You can’t make tea without tossing out the RINOs first and Alexander is the GOPe RINO of the year.
How cab they hold a so called “tea party rally” and not invite crucial TEA PARTY candidates..
What on Earth is Sarah even coming to TN for if not to endorse Joe Carr in the most important race we have this year ???
Surely Sarah doesn’t know about this...
What??? Go, Carr, GO!!
I’ve really been trying to give TEA Party groups the benefit of the doubt in the midst of all these allegations of profiting from the movement — especially since they are coming mostly from GOPe circles. But this makes absolutely no sense. Why hold a rally if you are not trying to affect any real change?
Check out what recently happened in VA. Brat had no overt Tea Party support, either. There might be a strategy in operation out of sight.

What in the wide world of sports is going on with the Sevier TEA Party?
Maybe we should call them and ask:
(865) 280-2096
Here is their contact info:

Facebook page:

I think it might help to bombard them by phone and on their facebook page, if you do fb... Carr needs all the help he can get and this event is early enough to impact the rest of his campaign. God speed Joe Carr.
Unbelievable. More confirmation that not all “Tea Party” groups are what meets the eye. My hope would be that Sarah Palin’s camp would catch wind of this and skip ‘Steve Osborn’s thing’ to attend a rally for Joe Carr.
I just spoke with Steve Osborne. Good man and heard me out. While I do not agree, it’s their call to make. No one running for office will be speaking. I can accept that.
I will predict that the matter of getting a Conservative from Tennessee in the Senate will come up from the speakers. It cannot be avoided.
Also, I asked about a webcast and he indicated that they had some possibilities for that.
Thanks for the info. I’d love for this to be live streamed.
exc: Flinn donated $2,000 to Alexander in 2007. He even held a furtive meeting with Alexander in Memphis days before announcing his bid against him. His top political hand--to whose firm Majority Strategies he paid tens of thousands of dollars for the losing 2010 campaign--was one Ward Baker, now the political director at the National Republican Senatorial Committee--the GOP's official campaign arm which is working to reelect Alexander.
