Since it swept into Congress during the 2010 wave elections, the Tea Party has claimed small victories in blocking President Obama's legislative priorities and extracting spending cuts through debt-ceiling ceasefires. But if things go their way this fall, they would get their first true scalp: the Export-Import bank.
Reinvigorated by the GOP primary loss of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the Tea Party is on the verge of claiming perhaps its biggest policy victory in Washington. Its victim would be an institution that has existed for 80 years and far beyond the Obama era since the New Deal era of the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration.
"It would be a huge victory, not only within the context of the Obama era but in terms of efforts to unwind the New Deal," said Dan Holler, the communications director of Heritage Action, which supports letting the bank's charter expire at a Sept. 30 deadline.
Conservatives began moving against the Ex-Im Bank in 2012, when its reauthorization received the fewest votes since the administration of President Nixon. But two recent events elevated the Tea Party's standing in the battle the loss of Cantor, a supporter of the bank and a key broker in a the 2012 deal to reauthorize its charter, and the promotion of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-California), who is set to become the House Majority Leader in August.
McCarthy's move up means Ex-Im Bank opponents will have friends in the No. 2 and No. 3 House GOP slots both McCarthy and incoming House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) are opposed to reauthorizing the Ex-Im Bank's charter.
For years, the Tea Party movement has railed against "cronyism" and "corporate welfare." Now, the movement has found something to point to as an example.

Funny. I thought we were “dead.”
the headline led me to believe a conservative was about to win office out of the state of Washington...
2010 was the biggest victory. So far.
Goyle lost of course. Now Goyle works for the United Nations and the Import Export Bank, OUTSOURCING JOBS!
Darrell Issa , Mike Rogers and John Boehner all talk the talk, but refuse to walk the walk, - - - - they are not good for America.
They all whine and moan about being stonewalled by the Commie Obama Administration, but NOTHING effective happens, except for the formation of the Benghazi Committee under Trey Gowdy.
The House RINOs had their chance for OVER FOUR YEARS and have done NOTHING, proving that they are not good for America, PERIOD!
It is time to mow down the not good in the House, ASAP!
Suggested actions:
* Encourage your Rep in the US House to force Boehner to resign, before August 1, 2014.
* Encourage your House Rep in the US House to force do-nothing Chairmen such as Issa and Mike Rogers to resign, before Labor Day, 2014.
* Encourage your House Rep in the US House to publicly support Republicans who have proven that they have placed Country before Party.
While the RINOs may get re-elected to the House, we need to have them as far removed from any leadership role as possible.
The RINOs have failed to even slow down the Obamanation of America, even though they held the power of the purse for four years.
If a RINO cannot be voted out of office, then he/she must be relegated to a position subordinate to a fire-in-the-belly Conservative Republican Representative such as Trey Gowdy.
Early Primary voting begins soon after Labor Day in many States.
Most voters have made up their minds about who to vote for by Labor Day: Tick-tock, FReepers, Tick-TOCK!
For being dead, we are giving RINOs and Liberals fit. We will win in MS today and ImportExport Bank will be our first Government victim.
ok..what is the Ex Im Bank
The joke in export credit circles in that EXIM is the Bank of Boeing becuase most of its loan volume is for Airplane Export.
If Business Insider says it is so, then it must not be.
The TEA party is against the ABUSES of the EXIM bank...it is NOT against the EXIM bank itself, as the liberal Business Insider would like people to believe.
This is a set-up piece. When the EXIM bank is eliminated, liberals will then point to the TEA party as the cause of foreign trade deficit increases.
That was the Coffee Party - the satirical opposite to the Tea Party. That didn’t last long, did it?

Sounds like Boehner might not be supporting Ex Im.
Export/Import, headquartered in Washington.
Don’t focus to much on the Export part of the bank, it is mainly used to pay multinationals to relocate to other countries so they can Import back to America. The multinationals avoid our burdensome corporate taxes and the political sock puppets get funded for their next reelection as they systematically dismantle our industry and work force.
The global free traders love this arrangement so they must be feeling the heat now that the number of Americans with a full time job are the minority. Economic strip mining works great, in the short term, to bad the damage is done and they are just now starting to clue in.
You’re back in that thing of going after more Republicans than democrats... ease on over Graewoulf
Well Both parties did their best to kill the Tea party. With a king sized assist from obammy and company.
Seem both parties like this status que B S of go along get along and everyone keep sucking the teet.
To late.
2012 proved that the RINO is the greatest threat to America.
