well you know what? I think humans have a right to enough water to drink and bathe. They don’t have a right to enough water to run a power plant or irrigate a farm, just enough for personal use. A right. Like air to breathe. Water used to cost a little for having been put through the cleaning process.

Now it costs an arm and a leg.

Here are the things I think humans have a right to:

Free speech
Religion
Enough food and water to sustain life
minimal housing and medical care
Self defense
Due process before deprivation of life liberty property
pursuit of life liberty and property

all the rest is gravy

No one has the right to the fruits of another’s labors.

The water is free you’re just paying for the cost to get the free water to you.

Drill a well on your property. Drilling the well isn’t free you have to pay for it.

The water already belongs to you so it’s free.

Want to get your free water out of your well, unless you want to pull it up by hand, you need to buy a pump.

Then you need to buy a tank to hold your free water, then you have to buy and install pipes to get your free water to your house so you can use it.

Use and electric pump to get your free water out of the ground and to your house you get to pay an electric bill each month.

Turns out free water isn’t so free is it.

These two things contradict each other. If I am forced to provide some one else food, water, housing, and medical care with my labor then that is slavery and you are violating my rights to life and liberty.

And who is going to pay for these things? There is no "right" to have basic necessities. We, as human beings, are all tasked with finding a way to provide these things for ourselves. It's really no different than all the other animals on the planet. Survival of the fittest.

A right to water, food, housing, and clothing? Please explain the nature of these rights so I do not think of you as a communist.

And just who is your selected victim to be eaten by the tribe to provide food, whose bones and skin might be used for shelter for the other members of the tribe? What doctor will be enslaved to provide the medical care?

ANY “right” one person has comes with a responsibility on the part of other people who have to pony up the means of FULFILLING that “right.” Yet, NO ONE may be enslaved or stolen from to provide for some other person. Thus, we have just a wee bit of a problem with your wish list.

A RIGHT, such as the right to life, or to freely practice one’s religion, may NOT require a POSITIVE act by another to fulfill it. A true RIGHT only requires an outside party to leave me alone to enjoy my right. That is the sole obligation someone has with respect to another person’s RIGHTS.

What YOU want is the same thing the OTHER Socialists/communists/social engineers want: a free lunch that SOMEONE ELSE MUST PAY FOR (or otherwise provide). To which any SENSIBLE person will reply, “Go s&%#@ yourself. Go get a job and pay for your own lunch or home or medical care or water. I won’t pay for yours and mine, too!!!”

Here are the things I think humans have a right to:

You are failing to distinguish between a "right" and an entitlement.

Something like the "right to free speech" or "right to keep and bear arms" are things that you can do which the government is not allowed to interfere with.

An entitlement, for example food or water, is something which another entity has an obligation to provide you.

We got into this current welfare mess by subscribing to the idea that "society" is under obligation to provide resources to people, without the recipients being under any obligation to offer anything in exchange.
