Prime Minister Tony Abbott reintroduced legislation to the Australian Parliament on Monday that would repeal a carbon tax that the nations worst greenhouse gas polluters have to pay.
The opposition center-left Labor Party and minor Greens party used their Senate majority in March to block the bills that would remove the 24.15 Australian dollar ($22.79) tax per metric ton of carbon dioxide that was introduced by a Labor government in July 2012. The bills were defeated 33 votes to 29.

It should pass this time thank-goodness. Only now are we finding out that the carbon tax actually made some eco friendly initiatives such as mallee oil unrealistic when this industry was set to boom beforehand - it has put the industry up to ten years behind. Mallee Eucalyptus trees can be used in biofuel boilers to power small towns and factories in the bush which hopefully now be able to reach its full potential minus government interference.
I’m having nasty visions of Al Gore recoiling in horror. The science is settled... so they say.
I think it’s great to see the OZ PM, Abbott, getting support for fixing so many problems caused by his two predecessors.
