I wish I believed that. But in his own words from post #7:

To try to subpoena all the various people who might possibly have received emails related to the scandal would be a “fishing expedition,” Issa said. His Democratic predecessor Henry Waxman engaged in such tactics because “he just generally had an idea,” Issa said, but added, “We would like to be pragmatic and positive and reasonable.”

Something is dramatically wrong that many of our Tea party pats and most congresspeople seem corrupt after a few years in dc. We need a new bunch of reps that can't be corrupted to in charge up there if this country is to survive.
Maybe we could start with Ben Carson and Sarah Palin.

About the corrupting influence of D.C. on seemingly honest and well intentioned people, I think it goes to Obama’s underlings using “the Chicago way” on them. They go directly at key people and decapitate organizations set up to protect us. Such as AARP was a bulwark to represent seniors against government but it got compromised in no time. All the Inspectors General have been compromised by direct threats and intimidation. (”either shut up or resign or we will ruin you” - and media helps the regime enforce it). I fear that the NRA will be similarly co-opted. A few rounds of golf and invites to meet Beyonce at White House may turn the staunchest leaders away from the quaint goal of representing ‘the people’ (a chump’s errand).

To me it started pre-Obama with Ken Starr. Who would have ever thought they could bamboozle and flummox an Independent Counsel? Certainly Reagan got no where with Walsh and Dubya and Rove were nearly run out of town by Fitzgerald. Bottom line is we can’t count on anyone except ourselves to make the difference.

It starts with the elections themselves. The fund-raising is the avenue to Hell. By the time they are ensconced in their cozy Cap Hill digs, their votes are already bought and paid for.

There have been some candidates who have run for office on very little money. In Maryland we had a guy who is (strangely enough) liberal and yet almost completely in line with the Tea Party who got 20,000 Dem votes in the Senate primary a few years ago, spending $450 on his campaign.

The guy who won in Virginia was outspent by orders of magnitude as was the guy in the special Fla. election. They both won.

The money thing CAN BE circumvented. No one knows exactly how just yet but just consider this—

If Sarah Palin were to run for president she would already have between 30 and 35 percent of the vote without spending a dime. So how do you get the magical next 16 to 21 percent without selling out to special interests?

I’m saying there IS a way. (I just don’t know what it is.)

It is the seduction of power and influence. As soon as they cross the Potomac, they get hit with dozens of foreign interests and lobbyists 'suggesting' wealth and power IF the vote FOR such and such or AGAINST such and such.

Money and power and political cover and offshore bank accounts.

It is sort of the political version of the post WW I 'how 'you gonna keep 'em down on the farm, after they've seen Parie?' Smalltown USA becomes kind of small world after they enter the glitz and glamour of world-level politics.

I have posted many times -- it is Potomac Fever. It starts as soon as they enter Washington. Few are immune, few can resist, most eventually succumb to its seduction.

Many enter Washington with good intentions -- and find the road to hell paved with gold and power.

“Something is dramatically wrong that many of our Tea party pats and most congresspeople seem corrupt after a few years in dc.”

1. Nothing new under the sun, since Adam and Eve
2. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely

What we have in our Federal and state representatives are people whose morals represent the decadent 70’s and the results that followed
Abortion on demand
No fault divorce
common core
The list can go on.
In Texas, thank God, we do have an honest man running for a very powerful Texas Lt. Governor position

“We need a new bunch of reps that can’t be corrupted...”

No, we need to regularly vote them out so they can’t be corrupted. Over time, any of them will be ‘acclimatized’ to DC & the only way to stop it is to return them to civilian life after a short stint in power.
