I don't see how it is possible that calling an NFL football team the “Redskins” is in any way a name “that brings individuals or groups into contempt or disrepute”. It HONORS them! This political correctness idiocy has become nothing more than a soapbox for the perpetually offended to get some attention. Will the Blackfoot Indian tribe soon have to change their name, too???
The test run for this dreck was the NCAA's siege of the University of North Dakota team nickname "Fighting Sioux" and the logo (designed and drawn by Bennett Brien, a Native American), approved by the Spirit Lake Sioux Tribe.
In typical liberal derisive fashion, the NCAA assumed the Sioux were incapable of being sufficiently offended and decided to be offended for them. They found a couple of grievance studies types to voice opposition, and a tradition went down after a long fought battle (some six or seven years).
The Sioux, a warrior tribe, had no problem with the nickname, and the logo was respectfully accurate in its depiction of a warrior.
PC is BS, and I won't play the game.
