But you miss the point. Ignore what you learned in history class as a child because the FLARDUS is rewriting history. I recall that, in a talk several years ago, she said we would be doing just that.

Not supporting MichelleO, but I believe that at the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Signers were technically British Citizens and subjects of the Crown (England). That’s why they call it a Revolution.

I’ll take a stab at this - the land where each original colony was mapped out - that was called America, was it not? After Vespucci who charted the Americas.

Americans living in one of the original 13 colonies came together and decided they wanted to govern themselves instead of being subject to the monarchy overseas.

Once the Declaration of Independence separated us from England, we were called the United States of America.

Just my thoughts.

The First Lady explained that the Founding Fathers were “Americans-by-choice” just like the newly declared citizens.

Not true. Most all the founding fathers were Americans by birth, and then by choice since they rebelled against England and fought a revolutionary war, rather than remaining loyal to the King as some did.

It's also probably incorrect to say the signers of the Declaration of Independence are the founding fathers. The actual founding document of the USA was the US Constitution. Some probably signed both, but the D of I was just that, a declaration of independence from the King of England. It didn't found a new nation. Very little of what Moochelle said is correct.

Most of them were born in America and they called themselves Americans well before the WoI. MO is an idiot.

Quite right, of course. And that was the root cause of the ‘disagreement’ with King George. He - and most Britons -considered the colonists subjects of the crown. The colonies beggged to differ and fought for their independence from Briton. They were Americans.

You could have done better than that.

The woman was not talking semantics like you give her credit for.

Plain and simple, she was making a point that the people who created the USA were not from this place.

A bold faced Lie designed to assist the dissolution of this country’ s heritage and fabric

No you don’t understand at all. We were Americans before we were citizens of the U.S. The fact that we were Under French, English, and Spanish control did not change the fact that we were still Americans. The first 13 American colonies were English and then we added others but they were all native Americans except for a handful who were born outside America.

“No you don’t understand at all. “

Not sure if “you” being referred to here is for me or Michelle or someone else.

If it was to me, please let me know where I conveyed that to anyone.
