I gave you examples of at least four providers that you have (more if you count the other phone providers) and you still insist that you have only one source and the others are not allowed in ...

“If I sign up for a service and the terms are 50 Bucks unlimited usage and then the company decides to change it to 50 bucks but you only get x number of data its not Capitalism its fraud.”

It’s not fraud if they don’t change in the middle of your contract.

Notice that all your utilities are free to change conditions of service.

"I gave you examples of at least four providers that you have"

There is ONE cable company another cable company can't come in because to do so and get through all the hurdles the lobbyists have in place they will operate at a lost for decades. So no Competitive Cable Company.

DSL is the phone company and their system sucks AND you can't get another phone company in for the same reason as above also DSL is not available for much of our area due to old phone lines.

And comparing Satellite and Wireless phone/internet to Cable Internet is like saying bicycles and cars are the same because they both have wheels. In our area entry level/basic cable internet is far superior to the best that wireless and Sat internet can provide.

There is no Competition because Big Communications has made it so To have competition you need multiple companies competing in the same market. DSL and Cable internet are not the same market. And Wireless and Sat internet aren't even close.

I just got a not from AT&T that I have reached the data cap that they claim they have told me about.

150g

I don’t have any record of having been told about this.

From my perspective 300g sounds pretty good right now.

My internet provider is also the cable TV provider that I have to pay for whether I like it or not, due to the socialist nature of homeowner’s associations. But DirecTV’s NFL Sunday ticket trumps all. I love DirecTV anyway and just suffer the added expense. Media delivery is getting so confusing ... ;)

We ditched DirecTV for Dish because the service was so poor and then had to ditch that due to finances (had no internet at home for nearly 3 years for the same reason). At the time neither had sat internet in this area. When we knew we had to upgrade our internet, Dish was the one and only place we looked.

The problem with your statement is that I have my choice of several cable companies, ATT Uverse, DSL, satellite and phone hotspot. If it were true, I wouldn’t have these options.

Most areas (As I have already explained) have the choice of ONE Cable company and one phone company. And for a second of either to come in is a losing financial prospect for the new guy because the lobbyists made it so by buying politicians. If such weren't so there would be dozens of companies in each market starting up, there isn't

Wait, earlier in the thread you listed all kinds of internet services available in MY area and you don't even know where I am?

I see now. You have no clue about which you speak.

“Wait, earlier in the thread you listed all kinds of internet services available in MY area and you don’t even know where I am. I see now. You have no clue about which you speak.”

You originally said you had only one provider. Later you agreed that you had each and everyone I had listed in my post. Apparently I have a ‘clue’.

Ahhh I see you are impaired. OK I will type real slow so you can keep up. Wireless and Sat ARE NOT repeat NOT a competing Cable Company NOR are they a Competing DSL Internet Company.

Again...

Wireless and Sat ARE NOT repeat NOT a competing Cable Company NOR are they a Competing DSL Internet Company.

One more time...

Wireless and Sat ARE NOT repeat NOT a competing Cable Company NOR are they a Competing DSL Internet Company.

And just for good measure...

Wireless and Sat ARE NOT repeat NOT a competing Cable Company NOR are they a Competing DSL Internet Company.

Even you should be able to get it now if not have an adult help you with the big words.

Exactly!
They invent cool gadgets to encourage consumption of music & movies - they gush about streaming TV shows & sporting events - then they treat you like a criminal & try to bankrupt you if you use “too much” data

My daughter is trying to get us to ditch our very expensive Verizon wireless family in exchange for Sprint’s family plan.
She says its cheaper & has unlimited data.

I am cynical & think this is too good to be true.

Anyone here know anything about Sprint’s deal?

They are providers and their existence proves that there is competition.

You can get 10mps download satellite for $59 a month. That is competitive with cable.

Cell phone internet is competitive and also VERY portable. I used to have DSL and had no major issues with it even over phone lines built in the 70’s.
