(1) The TX Governor position is weak, Perry holds no real power
(2) There ain't enough Texas Rangers or County Sheriff's deputies to man a 1,200-mile border
(3) If Perry does do something, he will get smacked down by some leftist federal judge or by Holder's corrupt Injustice Dept
Note: I'm not defending Perry, just trying to see the situation from his point of view. If it was me, I'd give the clarion call for armed Texans to man the border in droves.
Gov. Perry would carry a small firearm when he jogged. It was to deal with coyotes, so he said. Preparedness is good.
Too many wealthy Texans exploit illegal aliens for cheap labor. These Texans donate money to the politicians to ensure such exploitation isn’t abolished. Gov.Perry isn’t running for governor again.
Come on, dude; you better be prepared to run for President, but you’re not showing any sense.
There is a Texas solution to this problem, and it doesn’t include doing nothing.

I think that there are over 2500 TX State Troopers.
We don't have enough police to stop every theft from occurring either, but we don't throw up our hands and say "well, we can't stop them all, so we should just give up and do nothing." Yet that's exactly the reasoning, or rather excuse, that Perry and others use to do absolutely nothing about illegal immigration.
How bout the Texas rainy day fund?
