The libRats' biggest victory of the Watergate Campaign was convincing RiNO types that they absolutely must NOT fight back like Dick Nixon did, that they would get what Nixon got if they did.
Of course, they were always bigger hypocrites and liars than Tricky Dick ever dreamed of becoming, even on his worst day. (We can discuss that.)

It’s not hard to convince someone of something they have no stomach for in the first place.
And as for Nixon, I’m not entirely convinced Nixon was the big bad ogre that he’s been portrayed as. Most of that “history” has been written by the left. Just like Joe McCarthy’s continued perpetual smearing.
