The Iraqi soldiers tell of how they can hardly live with the shame of their rout under the onslaught of the Islamic militants. Their commanders disappeared. Pleas for more ammunition went unanswered. Troops ran from post to post only to find them already taken by gunmen, forcing them to flee.
“I see it in the eyes of my family, relatives and neighbors,” one lieutenant-colonel who escaped the militants’ sweep over the northern city of Mosul told The Associated Press. “I am as broken and ashamed as a bride who is not a virgin on her wedding night.”

My buddy served two tours in Iraq. The American soldiers would accompany the Iraqi “soldiers” on patrols and the Iraqis would drop their guns and flee at the first sound of gunfire leaving our guys to fend for themselves.
Iraqis are ungrateful cowards.
And ISIS executed Iraqi soldiers who surrendered to them...
But, ISIS has many Iraqis. How come the cowards are always on our side?
I believe you. Iraqis were accustomed and conditioned to seeing terror actions against anyone who challenged government. They were not raised to think for themselves. Submission is what they live.
Unless they are in a bloodthirsty terrorist group then they slaughter everything that moves.
They are typical Arabs: loudmouthed cowards who can't be trusted. And certainly unworthy of any uniform they wear.
On the other hand the French are feeling good about themselves right about now.

That knowledge along with the humiliation of deserting may stiffen their resolve in Act II.
