Washington (AFP) - US Secretary of State John Kerry Monday sounded the alarm on the perils facing the world's oceans, calling for a global strategy to save the planet's life-giving seas.
"Let's develop a plan" to combat over-fishing, climate change and pollution, Kerry urged as he opened a ground-breaking two-day conference of world leaders, scientists and industry captains.
"Stewardship of our ocean is not a one-person event... it's a universal requirement," Kerry insisted.
"We as human beings share nothing so completely as the ocean that covers nearly three-quarters of our planet," the top US diplomat said, adding that "each of us shares the responsibility to protect it."
Heads of government and state as well as ministers from some 80 countries gathered with researchers and experts from the fishing, plastics and farming industries for the conference at the State Department.

Im pretty sure Ted Danson covered this around 15 years ago , explaining on the Tonight show that the oceans would be dead in 10 years.
So the Oceans have been dead now for 5 years anyway.
Also, as we were cutting down the equivalent of 100 foot ball fields of rain forest a day 15 years ago, central america is now a desert, right?

It would be nice to focus and weigh the threats we face, And how severe threats are compared to other threats.
Even if we want to say that there is some threat from global warming, it seems clear that Islamic terror and Islamo fascism are far more immediate threats to the world.

What is wrong with this yahoo’s face recently- is it the site of a botox catastrophe, or does he have some kind of disease? I noticed some kind of a change, maybe around the time he became SOS. Seems like his face is frozen into rigor mortis or something....
