MOSCOWThe US State Department today accused Russia of quietly sending tanks and other heavy weaponry to separatist fighters, Ukraine.
We are highly concerned by new Russian efforts to support the separatists, stated deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf.
In the last three days a convoy of three T-64 tanks, several BM-21 or Grad multiple rocket launchers and other military vehicles crossed from Russia into Ukraine, she said. This is unacceptable. ...
The US has long accused Russia of meddling in Ukraine and providing arms and support to the separatist fighters. Fridays accusation, however, would mark a steep increase in that ALLEGED assistance. The State Department said Russia is attempting to quietly arm pro-Russian separatist fighters with weapons that they could deny had come from Russia.
We have information that Russia has accumulated tanks of a type no longer used by Russian forces at a deployment site in southwest Russia, and some of these tanks recently departed, the State Department added in a later statement.
Russia will claim these tanks were taken from Ukrainian forces, but no Ukrainian tank units have been operating in that area, the statement said. We are confident that these tanks came from Russia.
The sudden and mysterious appearance of tanks in rebel hands immediately raised suspicions early this week. Yesterday, Ukrainian officials claimed they had recently crossed the border from Russia. Russia has yet to comment on the matter.
...
Today, Harf, the spokeswoman, dismissed claims that the tanks had been captured from Ukrainian military units.
They were somehow pulled out of the Russian warehouses, someone taught them how to use them, and they were sent from Russia to Ukraine, she said.
The NYT reported that intelligence had been shared with NATO allies & that Secretary of State John Kerry complained about them in a phone call...

Aww, c’mon, man! Can’t they give the president a break?!? He works so hard and the problems just keep coming; never a chance to bask in the glow of his “accomplishments.” Maybe he needs another vacation. You wouldn’t begrudge him that, would you?!?
On the contrary, I'd prefer he and his veep stay on vacation throughout the remainder of his term.
Obama: You're welcome..
Hope Vlad’s ready for another sternly worded letter.
Given what’s happening in Iraq Putin sees this as its golden opportunity.
They should put a big poster of a pic of Obama with “Thanks Obama” on each tank.
5.56mm
It’s quite easy to overwhelm this “president”.
Putin must be thinking, “This is too easy”.
You'd know it. It wouldn't be three either.
Quick, somebody hashtag that!
So THIS is what obama meant:
President Obama was caught on a hot mic telling Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday that if given space, hell have more flexibility after my election for negotiations on issues like missile defense. On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved, but its important for him to give me space, Obama told the Russian leader.
Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space, President Medvedev replied. Space for you
This is my last election, Obama observed. After my election I have more flexibility.
I understand, responded Medvedev. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.
The White House responded to the leaked correspondence, saying:
“Out with the Red Line paint one more time!”
If anything Russian military doesn’t operate T-64s for a couple decades.
It was a Ukrainian-build tank at the time, Ukraine still builds it and it is still in their inventory.
Obama was so angry when he heard this that he sliced his tee shot into the trees.
No, Ukraine & U.S. ruled their out their tanks. In addition, videos & photos of crossing the borde!!!
