Obama says to take several days to decide how to help fight Iraq insurgency

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Friday he will take several days to review options for how the United States can help Iraq deal with a militant insurgency, saying any action would need significant involvement by Iraq itself.

"The United States is not simply going involve itself in a military action in the absence of a political plan by the Iraqis that gives us some assurance that they are prepared to work together," Obama said, making it clear that he would not send U.S. troops back into combat in Iraq.

"We are not going to be able to do it for them," he added. The threat by militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, in Iraq poses a danger to the people of Iraq and also, potentially Americans, Obama told reporters at the White House.

"This is a regional problem, and it is going to be a long-term problem. And what we're going to have to do is combine selective actions by our military to make sure that we're going after terrorists who could harm our personnel overseas or eventually hit the homeland," Obama said.

Why would anyone be surprised at this? These are the same guys he armed in Syria, and related to the same groups he supported in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.

They’re SUNNI, one and all...and obviously, so is Obama. Why would he attack his own? He might go in if he sees it as an opportunity to make kissy-face with Iran. He’s been on his knees trying for better relations with the Persians but IMHO, I doubt it.

He is not going to fight. He is going to demand that Iraq form a coalition government with the terrorists.

Imagine that! It took Obama only several days to decide to do nothing. He is getting worse. It took him only minutes to abandon our Consulate and his ‘friend’ Chris in Baghdad!

This is the guy that WENT TO SLEEP instead of helping his ‘good friend’ Chris in Benghazi. What does he care about contractors?

Think about it folks. The Democrats know better than this. Even an idiot like him knows to go to The Situation Room. He’s afraid that his blackmailers will reveal their secret.

In the 1973 Arab Israeli was the Israeli’s were in full retreat. Nixon called Golda Meir and said, “Use your expendables, I’ll make them good.” Later Nixon asked how the resupply effort was proceeding and was told that the Air Force and the Navy were arguing over who would do it and which planes they’d use. He yelled, “Do it now! Use all the planes!” A friend who lived close to an airport said the planes came in one after the other delivering supplies. Golda later said, “Nixon saved us.” After that she always called him, “My president.”

Oh, for somebody like him.

i’m afraid we missed the chance to annihilate these basta*ds when they were moving down the single road to Baghdad. We could have picked them off like turkeys. Now they are entrenched in the cities and towns and blending with the civilians.

He takes immediate and decisive action putting the hooks into domestic businesses and wage earners, and sits on his thumbs through genuine national security concerns. Impeach now!

It will all be over by then. They are sending hundreds of suicide bombers to breakdown the defenses of Baghdad and Karbala.

What is so difficult in sending in air support?

We are beyond that icky stuff now. We send hashtags and stern vocal warnings.

I’m sure he’ll be thinking hard on it during his golf/fund raising junket to Palm Springs. In the meantime, the Iraqis must simply endeavor to persevere. And try not to get captured as ISIS is now executing POW’s ...
