When the history of the great recession is finally written, I suspect that Americas domestic energy revolution will be credited for pulling us out of it. As a country, primarily through the application of new extraction techniques and technologies that are unlocking heretofore inaccessible oceans of oil and natural gas, the United States of America is transforming itself into the dominant energy producer in the world. Within the next few years, America will not only become energy independent, but could also become the worlds largest energy exporter. Once again, American ingenuity has found a way to move our economy forward.
I am pleased to report that Utah has caught the wave of the new energy economy. This did not happen by accident. When Gov. Gary Herbert took the oath of office five years ago, Utah, like the rest of the country, was suffering with high unemployment, collapsing tax revenues and uncertainty about the future. Herbert jumped right in, rolled up his sleeves and went to work, focusing the efforts of his new administration on creating jobs. Energy development was a key pillar of Herberts plan for Utah.
In 2011, working with the legislature, Herbert established the Governors Office of Energy Development, an organization dedicated to advancing all forms of responsible energy development in the state. Energy production in Utah now drives over $5 Billion in economic activity, generating more than $600 Million in state and local tax revenues. Utahs energy sector accounts for more that 18,000 jobs and $1.5 Billion in wages each year, with energy sector jobs paying nearly double the states median income. Even with the federal government controlling the vast majority of our land, Utah is 10th in the nation in natural gas production, 11th in crude oil production and 14th in coal production.

Energy productions helped to end our great depression and to win WWII.
The left wing haters of America know that reality. That is why they and their Eco Terrorists fight our native energy producing industries at every level with their fake green energy substitutes.
They could generate even more net energy if they cut the power to that set of Constitution violating buildings.
in Utah?
The NSA has their big server farm in Utah.
okay, thanks
there are now a half dozen states besides north dakota and texas with oil production rates that are rising smartly like those of utah. They include west virginia, new mexico, colorado, oklahoma, pennsylvania. Ohio and Wyoming (if you look at the monthly data) are starting to turn up as well.)
More like a dozen that are rising. Granted, many are low values and slower increases, but the rise is spreading to most producing states.

A few others with very slight increases so far, heck even California has begun producing more, but the environMENTALists are trying to shut it down.
That’s federalism. These states will leave Democrat controlled states in the dust over the next generation.
the ones that have the steep slope are the ones where they have cracked the code. Wyoming has just turned up. I think the new production is coming from the powder river basin. EOG has been allocating assets there recently. That one has some legs.
All reports are that Ohio is mostly natural gas and ngl’s especially in the Southeast so any turn up in oil production is likely flaky
