Redskins and thin skins

The U.S. Senate under the guidance – or, if you prefer, the thumb – of Harry Reid isn’t interested in getting to the bottom of scandals involving the IRS, Benghazi or the Veterans Administration. But half the Senate—50 members, count ‘em, 50 – decided that the worst problem facing us was that their hometown football team continues to call itself the Washington Redskins.

Even though a poll has shown that 80 percent of actual Native Americans have no problem with the name, Harry Reid and his coven of chowderheads have decided that something must be done. The very idea that Reid, who refers to Republicans as un-American – and that’s on one of his more civil days – and calls cancer victims liars if they complain about Obamacare, should set himself up as a moral arbiter and as the last word on decorum is ludicrous at best, stomach-turning at worst.

Sheesh. Can't be that hard to blame the teams name on the..........Koch brothers. The ever affable hairy's obsession with these guys may just prod him in to blaming them for EVERYTHING that he dislikes. Which is just about everything.

Anyone notice that there is a totalitarian streak in liberals?

This issue is a perfect example. We all can have opinions, of course. But, for the Senators and Obama to weigh in, to micro manage down to the level of what sports team nicknames should be used, is absurd on many levels. This is not an issue of national importance, or national security. This issue is completely outside the responsibility or authority of the federal government.

I have opinions on this subject. I think that Dan Snyder knows how to run his football team better than busy bodies in the Senate. And that includes whatever team nickname he has for his team.

Anyone else agree, that aside from pushing this liberal issue, that the U.S. Senate simply has no place in dealing with sports team nicknames at all?????

Like the lyin’ king hisself, they just have to stick it in everywhere. Doesn’t matter if it’s relevant to the safety and security of the country, they gotta butt in. Stop wasting MORE of my/our tax dollars on stuff that means nothing.

Best solution I’ve heard: Keep the name, but change the mascot to a potato.

“Anyone notice that there is a totalitarian streak in liberals?”

ya think?

They have more than a streak. Liberalism/progressivism is the essence of totalitarianism, and vice versa.

Ever since the 1800s there has been an attempt to marginalize the American Indian. His mounds were tore down, the tribes were moved to Oklahoma, every stone structure was “proven” to be made by Welsh Prince Madoc or the Vikings.

Now we wipe the American Indian memory from our sports teams.

In the future the children will ask the question...”What was an Indian?”
