Not breaking. News released yesterday. 57k is the number they gave nationwide, not in TN.

simple talking points for conservatives are being born every day. It’s a damn shame it is due to the pain and suffering of our enlisted men and women...and their families.

The audit flagged VA facilities in Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga and McMinnville for further review.

There is no VA in McMinnville. Maybe they meant Murfreesboro.

Yes, and you can’t get any one to research the next scandal, it will take a little while for it to break, As most scripts are 90 day, No guarantee of a DAW script, ES is known for switching to the generic brand. Not all are created equal, some of us react to generic brands because of fillers or dyes or they don’t work. DOD MANDATED Senior Retired over 65 Veterans on 4/14/2014! to get their daily meds from a company that has already had many complaints, and defrauded the US Tax payer of hundreds of Millions of $$. Takes 2 weeks to get a order, 2 weeks for a refill. If you chose Base Dispensary, not set up for handicapped. Not all drugs are available, depends on size of base, location. 5 days on reorders out of Pensacola, FL for those of us in the Memphis are for the Millington, Navy base. Your drugs are stuffed in your mail box by USPS NOT signed for, available to children, teens and drug thieves. Please be sure to read the complaints to see why and take note on the payment issues.

The scandal is so big they can’t keep up with it. Whistle blowers are getting fired so it is rumored. Usually true.

Disability is another scandal, it is being delayed, paper work lost on purpose. How can they deny a person off the battle field disability if that person now has no limbs to work with?

It makes my blood boil.

I went to the barber shop last month. A veteran (say early 30’s) is in the chair while I’m waiting and he’s talking to the owner, who’s a former Marine. He got out of the service four years ago. He went to the VA once about a year after he was discharged for a chest cold and got a physical at the time. They never told him in person or via mail that annual physicals we’re required to ensure coverage. Fast forward to this year. He’s having some knee pain and suddenly it got worse. He called the VA and said he would likely need a referral. They said that he hadn’t come in for a physical and therefore he couldn’t be referred, because he had lost his primary care physician. So, he asks to schedule a physical with a new physician and they said the earliest appointment was six weeks. Disgraceful.

This is why I posted here last week when everyone was saying to give us healthcare at civilian doctors. The VA keeps tabs on our disabilities and if they think you no longer have the disability they reduce your rating and pay. I’ve seen many WWII and Nam vets at the VA Hosp I go to arguing with the staff many times about this.

Not breaking. News released yesterday. 57k is the number they gave nationwide, not in TN.

That sounds more reasonable. I go to the clinic in Knoxville. I signed up IIRC about 4 years ago so I could get Audiology services. IIRC there was a several month delay getting to see the primary doctor first for the needed referral. It took considerably longer to get to see the audiologist. That said I am on about the lowest priority level because I am not service disabled, wounded, etc. and I have my own primary care doctor I see regularly. I use VA for services I need Medicare/Tenncare does not cover like hearing aids, glasses, and corrective insoles.

Several things I did notice. The clinic in Knoxville is a large clinic located across from Target in west Knoxville. The parking lot has been full each time meaning they are likely seeing patients at capacity. The doctors, nurses, specialist etc have all been caring & professional once they saw me & then got things moving ASAP.

The Audiology Dept is in far upper corner of the old downtown west shopping center a few blocks away. To get repairs it is walk in first come first serve. To get adjustments etc. it takes an appointment you can make directly with the department after your initial visit. They too seem to be running at capacity. I've been to the repair clinic several times same waiting room as ones seeing the Audiologist and they too always seem to be at capacity.

One thing they could do to help ease waits is to contract places like UT Audiology clinic in Neyland Stadium to take patients. They are good also. A little hard to find because the clinic is inside the stadium itself.

Mountain Home {Johnson City} is the next closest facility and where some specialist are located. That's a considerable drive for some. But it is also the VA HQ for this region. Knoxville clinic is actually a satellite facility from Mountain Home. If you call for an appointment chances are Mountain Home schedules your Knoxville appointment.

A VA employee spoke to me this morning about those “waiting for first appointment” numbers. These apparent crazy wait times, at least for the VA hospital he knows, are bureaucratic nonsense. Most of them are transfers, wrongly called new patients, who don't need appointments for the foreseeable future. The real wait time for most VA services, he said, is better than the average for local hospitals.
