The results also indicate an increase in support for NATO membership, with nearly two in three saying this would be the best security option for Finland.

Finnish military officers are concerned about Russia’s intentions, according to a survey published in the leading newspaper Helsingin Sanomat on Saturday. Four out of five officers who responded to a poll by the daily believe that the military threat from Russia has increased.

A majority of those interviewed said that Russia’s foreign policy has become more aggressive since Vladimir Putin was re-elected as president in 2012.

Helsingin Sanomat and the Finnish Officers’ Union carried out a joint, anonymous survey of union members’ views on security policy around Eastertime. Of the union’s 6,000 members, 2084 responded to the poll. Two thirds of them are on active duty.

More than 40 percent of those who replied said that Finland’s political leadership should have acted more firmly in regard to the Ukrainian crisis. The results also indicate an increase in support for NATO membership, with nearly two in three saying this would be the best security option for Finland. Twenty-four percent want to keep the non-aligned status quo, while just over one in 10 back a military alliance with Sweden.

If you want to be on this right wing, monarchy, paleolibertarianism and nationalism ping list, but are not, please let me know. If you are on it and want to be off, also let me know. This ping list is not used for Catholic-Protestant debates.

Republican President Ronald Reagan won the Cold War.

Then the American people--in a series of astonishingly stupid and suicidal acts--elected Democrat Presidents and Congressmen who drew defeat from the Cold War's dead corpse and stupidly revived it.

With the US Dream Team of Obama, Kerry, Hagel and Rice in place, Putin sees the opportunity of taking care of all family business now.

The Russian game these days is to prevent NATO from enlarging eastward. Since the precondition of joining NATO is to not have territorial disputes, the Russian Federation would very much like a dispute everywhere it can.

No, he is really very weak. His hope is that the people do not take up the example of Kiev and send him packing. All these skirmishes in East Ukraine were a distraction.

It was really up to the Russians themselves. They needed a de-sovietization program back then; no one was going to do it for them. Instead a new generation of soviet robots has grown that learned nothing from the lessons of history. Of course us electing mediocre presidents at best did not help, but the problems of the Russian people cannot be resolved from the White House.
