Karachi: According to media reports, an Emirates Airline plane was caught in the middle of an attack on Karachi's Jinnah International Airport with passengers on board on the tarmac.

Though, as militants attacked the airport, Pakistani military forces boarded the Emirates plane and helped passengers and crew disembark. An Emirates spokesman said, “The safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised.”

Meanwhile, some of the media reports and Tweets by a person, who was stranded on the plane, show that the terrorists were probably trying to hijack the flight.

Twitter user – Syed Saim Rizvi – was stranded on an Emirates plane at the airport during the siege. He tweeted. ‘I have no words for emirates staff! They are fully in fear but trying to serve us & trying to normalize passengers . SSG com chambered now.’

Rizvi tweeted earlier on Monday, ‘Huge blast !!!!!! I do not know whats going on out side -- heavy firing started again - full panic on board !’

Earlier on Sunday, he had tweeted, ‘I am still in the plane – emirates staff ordered earlier to off load all passengers but now we have to stay on board. Heavy firing & blasts.’

The old terminal at Pakistan's busiest airport - Karachi's Jinnah International came under attack by heavily armed militants late on Sunday night. Reportedly, the gunmen entered from the old terminal reserved for VVIP movement or Hajj Flights.

Meanwhile, media reports say security forces, on Monday, have arrested a US citizen over recovery of weaponry material from its possession at Karachi Airport.

23 killed in Taliban attack. US Citizen arrested. I wonder how the media will spin this one. India has joined forces with China to “fight terrorism” (which includes drug trafficking).
