You’re making the wrong argument. The LEO’s refusal to participate in the event is justified by his moral conviction. What should concern you, however, is the statement released by the dept declaring his beliefs against sodomy to be that of “bias and bigotry”.
Rationalizing this type of tyranny through impartiality is a sure way to Hell.
