Several people have been injured after Sikh groups brandishing swords clashed at India's Golden Temple as special prayers were held to mark the deadly military offensive there in 1984.
Reports said the fight at Sikhism's holiest shrine was over who would speak first at the ceremony and that a scuffle broke out over a microphone.
Footage showed men running down temple steps lashing out with their swords.
Reports said at least three people had been taken to hospital with injuries.
The Indian government says 400 people and 87 soldiers were killed during the 1984 military raid to flush out Sikh separatists from the Golden Temple at Amritsar, codenamed Operation Blue Star.
But Sikh groups say the number of casualties was much higher and estimate it closer to 1,000.

That was cool! I’m laughing at the big fail of the one Sikh who had his sword swatted away on the staircase.
They should have picked their own cotton.
I’m reminded of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where the big bad warrior finds out what happens when you bring a sword to a gunfight.
You could replace “sikh” with “Republican” and it would make a good report on a Republican convention ... like the one coming to Idaho next week.
It ain’t church without a little swashbuckling going on.
At the risk of being flippant concerning a serious incident, it sounds like another sworded affair
He really turned tail when that happened.
All cultures and religions are equal.
That scene, at least in that form, wasn’t in the script. Harrison Ford got sick & didn’t feel up to the original version, so he suggested an alteration & Spielberg agreed:
“the scene was supposed to be an epic swordsman vs the whip toting archaeologist. Filming for the fight scene was supposed to last three days. Once again, necessity proved to be the mother of all invention as [Ford] suggested to Steven Spielberg that the scene be altered.”

No. They are not. Nothing equates to the evil of Islam.
India may be the only nation that equally exists in three separate millennia at the same time.
Didn’t seem serious, just a lot of sabre-rattling.

Yes he fails as a Jedi Knight.
I have to concur. These people carry a sword in their religion to protect them selves. From what religion you ask? Islam! One of their Guru's ordered this because too many Sikhs were being murdered by Muslims. To see them fighting in their temple is horrid. They should be fighting muslims not each other.
Wow, that was colorful.
It’s like watching the “Lives of a Bengal Lancer”, but real.
Too bad it was Sikh vs. Sikh instead of Sikh vs. Muzzie.
There was some serious whacking going on.
Some was funny.................
And some have used India as an example of how a nation with many different languages and cultures can coexist peacefully.
Correct.
