Rahm Emanuel: D.C. hero, Chicago goat

CHICAGO — In Washington, he is “Rahmbo,” the ruthless, profane operative who survived the Clinton White House despite being vanquished by the first lady. In Chicago, Rahm Emanuel has been dubbed the “murder mayor” by one critic, a snipe at the city’s high homicide rate.

In Washington, he’s the campaign mastermind who reportedly mused about a 2016 presidential run if Hillary Clinton takes a pass. In Chicago, he’s the ham-fisted gentrifer who’s been tripped up by the city’s entrenched racial politics.

In Washington, he’s the star of the CNN series “Chicagoland” — a careful keeper of his image whose office helped coordinate the show. In the real Chicago, a city known for its mobster history, his tough-guy veneer just isn’t as intimidating.

THIS MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD shortly after quitting his powerful WH job as Obama's COS, Rahm held a presser declaring he "just remembered" he really, Really wanted to be Mayor of Chicago. Then Rahm announced he had magically "raised" $10 million for his campaign in "just a matter of weeks." (waiting for hysterical laughter to die down). Ya gotta wonder how much Wall Street Rahm wired offshore when Obama put him in charge of the entire US Treasury.

(Rahmbo was also COS while at Treasury---the multi-tasking little devil.)

EDITED EXCERPT .... an exciting time in the inbred world of Chicago Democratic politics.... Democratic don, Richard M. Daley ruled for 22 years, inheriting the mayoralty from his father, Mayor Richard J. Daley who held on for a generation. Now the ex-chief of staff of Chicagoan Barack Obama (once a state Senator, now president) was installed. US Treasury Secy Tim Geithner was there, and so was Chicagoan David Axelrod, an O team player.

BTW, Mayor Daley's former chief of staff, Valerie Jarrett, hired Obama's wife, Michelle, to work in Chicago City Hall. Jarret is now ensconced as Obama's chief policy advisor. In Chicago gangland parlance, "chief policy advisor" means "wire-transfer artist".

Mayor Emanuel's innovative ways commenced early on---his organization was getting $50G's for the best seats at the inauguration (mmmm........that accounts for another couple million scammed from Treasury).

The mayoralty (and its--cough--"benefits") is a job Emanuel has coveted since he was a machine go-fer back in the 1980s.....before he became Bill Clinton's national campaign finance chairman and then a dual role as senior White House aide and Goldman Sachs lobbyist and then (gasp) becoming a multi-millionaire, thanks to a measly few months at a local investment firm...then a (gag) Congressman for four terms---then White House chief of staff for Obama that helped create the 2010 Republican House landslide.

"My Brother's Keeper" scam rears its ugly head in Washington.

A network of (ahem) community lenders is committing to lending (?) $1 billion in support of President Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative that aims to boost the life chances of young African and Hispanic men.

Yawn.....just goes to show: there's always a sap-happy Dem/Lib willing to say they're "for" their fellow-man---and conniving to make a buck on it.

Emanuel knows nothing about street-level Chicago - he’s a suburban twerp, he grew up with the swells, and has about as much connection to city folk as Pontius Pilate had to the residents of Judea.

Old man Daley was Democrat slime, but he was a real Chicagoan, and lived his entire life as a resident of Bridgeport, a blue-collar neighborhood. His kid Richie was Democrat slime, but at least he grew up in Bridgeport - then once he hit the big-time as mayor moved to up-scale Printer’s Row. Rahm is just plain Democrat slime - he lives in one of the few safe neighborhoods left in the city, sends his kids to private school, and wouldn’t know what to say to butcher or a taxi driver if his life depended on it. He claimed the mayor’s office as his reward for engineering the Democrat takeover of congress, and Chicago politics being what it is, the Machine could’ve put Sasha and Malia into City Hall if they wanted.

The teacher’s union hates him, the cops hate him, the blacks hate him, the Hispanics are starting to hate him, and the ethnic whites don’t identify with him in the least. The schools are as bad as ever; shootings are up; and the mini-rioting of wildings are getting harder and harder to hide. But the papers are in his pocket, the Machine still knows how to use clout, and most of the everyday folk are so apathetic and beaten-down that I expect Rahm will be reelected, even if an attractive black candidate emerges.
