A lot of information all around, and we can’t trust anything our own government tells us so it’s hard to be sure about anything, but I suspect that the times he tried to get away were times when he got tired of being used as a toy.
I think the guy was deceived by Islam’s lies, just like a large portion of the US public. He was offended by the American military, believed the lies of the enemy, and jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire, thinking it would be better there.
