My trip to the desert southwest two weeks ago helped me understand practically, even more than physically, why most of us in the East dont really know what it is like to live in the West. Yet we desperately need to learn about the increasing obstacles to the pursuit of happiness in the West if we hold our liberties dear. Fortunately, help is on its way.
The urban elites of California, Washington State, and Oregon are hard at work growing government debt and inventing new schemes to shrink our liberty, but urban progressives are similar throughout America. The western lifestyles that are most obscure to us are those in Californias Central Valley, the desert Southwest, the rural Northwest, the Rocky Mountain States, Alaska, Hawaii, and small coastal communities. Our understanding of the practical and legal plight of farmers, ranchers, and ordinary property owners there is typically very limited.

Apart from my native New England (New Hampshire in particular...*very* low taxes) the only places in which I can see myself living is possibly NC and GA...and FL for the winter.I’ve traveled the west and while I’m glad I’ve seen it I’d never, ever,*ever* live there for about 1000 different reasons.
Yup and between Teddy Roosevelt and Bill Clinton and all the bad actors in between MOST of the western half of the US is owned by the feds. Time for the states to take it all back
Apparently you have not been to Wyoming or Montana or Idaho...those are all mighty fine states ( and I would even throw in the Dakotas too). The progressives have ruined California,Oregon, Washington, and Colorado. The southwest has a different set pof issues not the least of which are water and illegals streaming across the no border border.
But the point is well taken. Easterns particularly north easterners wouldn’t know a farm if it came up and bit them in the arse. The do not understand distance or water shortages or what it is like to live away from a city. They think the world is centered in either Boston or NY with an outlier in DC.
While you will be shown great hospitality if you move down south don’t expect Georgia to be like the north. It is not and doesn’t want to be.
LEAVE US ALONE!
No, no , no no one should come to the Dakotas. It’s just a horrible place to live. ;)
Money. That’s the driver. Who wants to take on the “burden” of being caretaker of all that empty space. Just think of the maintenance costs. Yup, gotta keep an eye on that patch of sage brush. :>}
Enjoy your existence in the east. If your idea of a good time is being herded onto trains, wearing tan trenchcoats and ordering out dinner every night you will surely miss that in Arizona.
I have to try to remember to use the “print” pages when I post things if they are available. It does make things easier plus “they” don’t get credit for extra hits on their ads.
And, I gotta agree. LUTFA. We’ll call you if we need you but no need for you to sit by the phone waiting for a call.
Roger that. I think we ought to encourage conservatives to move to Washington, Oregon, and California and take those states back....you and I can hold the fort back here.
It is trying to round up all that dust and tumble weed that gets really tricky
But Colorado has been taken over by the fruits and nuts of Cali. They need to send them back where they came from. Don't come to the Dakotas. We have coyotes and mountain lions. If they eat livestock bye-bye.
LOL! A large dust devil deposited some TW in my yard night before last. I banished it to the street and within an hour somebody must have come along and taken it ‘cause it disappeared without a trace.
Dang. I forgot to register the intellectual property rights so yeah, use it at your own risk. LOL! :>} LUTFA. Kind of has a nice ring to it.
Transposed on the last post. Fixed it!
Many folks in cities have no idea what it is like to live in country or forests. They would be amazed at the sounds, the sights, the critters. It is a whole new world here, and much appreciated by the natives. Why city folk think we don’t care for the environment is beyond me.
Do you remember that idiotic woman in Chicago or Cleveland, I forget exactly what they asked her. The answer was, "I don't care about dat I get alls my food from da store". That is the mentality we are dealing with.
Oh no!!!!! Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh my!
;)
