And this week, on the same day, Cochran seemed confused by two questions about the race. At a stop in Hattiesburg, Dan Balz asked Cochran about the Affordable Care Act. "I think we need to monitor any federal programs that provide services and assistance to people who need help, and this is an example of an important effort by the federal government to help make health care available, accessible and affordable," said the senator. Afterwards, as Balz reported, the Cochran campaign called him to say the senator thought the question was about the VA. When I talked to Cochran, I asked why he thought it was important for his campaign to run ads about the videotaping scandal. "I cant control other peoples right to free speech, and Im not going to try to," he said, apparently unaware that the ad was his.

No wonder the GOPe wants him, he will just reliably vote the way they tell him to and won’t rock the boat.
I’ve suspected this from the start of his campaign. He stated he wanted to retire. But ‘other people’ wouldn’t ‘let’ him.
He’s danced to their tune for so long they’re not going to let him quit now.
let the old fool retire to spend time with his mistress, and the new blood can take his place.
i suspect cochran will withdraw from the race
Mistresses keep one from developing Alzheimers. Or so i’ve heard.
He will not. But he will let other people's money speak for him and will be unlikely to put on any marathon bus tour through Mississippi.
Nearly 50% of the Republican primary voters voted FOR Cochran. Who are these people and what in thee Hell is their major malfunction????
Cochran was comfortably ahead in the vote count when he went to bed at 8:30 last night. This morning’s news must have come as a shock.
it’s a damn shame anti-cochran voters wasted votes on the other clown, since that would have gotten mcdaniel over the finish line, but cochran is toast in three weeks
those voters are probably from cochran’s delta base, sucking on the teet of the agriculture dept
cochran then is the exception that proves the rule
Cochran got nearly 50% of the votes cast last night. But not all those votes were Republican votes. Cochran courted, and presumably received, many votes from Dem crossovers. So it's not quite as bad as it looks.
What clearly is bad, though, is this open primary system. It is so obviously a bad idea, that it must be intentional.
It’s an open primary state. Cochran was openly campaigning for dim crossover votes. He got a lot of those. The real question is how many non-Obama voter votes did he really get.
You are correct, sir. And I like that aphorism so much I am going to borrow it.
how would you know of what i speak?
Yep, that’s they keep sending us Lindsey Graham from SC.
She is less of a mistress and more of a handler. She will lose her job if he loses. So “thad” won’t drop out as his handler has vested interest in keeping the corpse in office.
Appears?
Let’s look at the facts.
He won’t debate McDaniel.
He does not have face to face question and answer sessions with media.
He did not even address his own supporters last night in person.
Notice how everything Cochran says is coming, not in person from him
but from “Press Releases” from his campaign.
Instead of speaking in public this morning about fighting for MS, his campaign releases a press statement.
Something is wrong with Cochran and his campaign is protecting him.
Cochran was in bed by 9:00pm. (His staff let him stay up a couple hours after his bedtime because it was an election night after all.)
Nice try. So why did his campaign release a press statement this morning
about the runoff, instead of Cochran meeting with the press to announce
this himself?
Just because he went to bed early, does not mean he could not address
his supporters earlier in the evening.
Lighten up, and read my post again. I have no idea what time Cochran went to bed last night; I was just ripping on him for being way to old to continue in the Senate.
