Bowe Bergdahl should be court-martialed for desertion. The Army wanted him..... for desertion. The Army knew within hours that he had deserted. The investigation was well known in Army circles. The special forces did not want to mount any rescue for a deserter due to the likely loss of life.
The unknown right now is ‘Why was he promoted twice?’. It is beyond reason that the Army promoted this guy. They knew he deserted. I would love to know what regulations demanded his promotion.
There is no conceivable reason for Susan Rice to say “He served with honor and distinction.” That was not a misstatement. That was a lie designed to deceive the American public about the history of Bowe Bergdahl. Apparently, Susan Rice is the DPP (Designated Public Prevaricator) for the Administration.
What was Barak Obama thinking? The way this was handled, there is no “this was the smart thing to do” angle. At every step, the stupidity was rampant.
- Apparently Obama spent years trying to get this guy back, KNOWING THAT HE DESERTED. OK, you want to get him back to put him on trial, that is one thing. But to HONOR him? Soldiers died looking for him.
- Obama planned to defy Congress/break the law all along. When negotiations were underway with Congress on the Defense Authorization Bill, he told them then he wanted authority to make a trade. Congress insisted on 30 days notice before any release of prisoners and passed the law as such. Barak Obama broke the law. Knowingly.
Why?
I’m of the opinion he did this to “stick it to the military” and discourage the men and women in uniform. I talked to several former Army and Navy people today, some who served in Afghanistan. They are furious.
I cannot see any scenario in which the President comes out looking like he made a good decision in this. None.
So, if it is bad as it looks, why do it? That answer scares me.
* Did AWOL, (since 6-30-09), Sgt. Bergdahl volunteer to the Taliban to be traded for 5 Taliban Leaders held by fellow Muslim Obama?
* If so, then did the Taliban make a side deal with Obama concerning information they had on Obama’s Benghazi Massacre of 2012?
* If so, then Trey Gowdy needs to include this illegal Obamadeal in his investigation of Benghazi.
* Since this illegal Obamatrade came directly from Obama, will Speaker Boehner instruct Trey Gowdy to include this Obamatrade in the House Benghazi Investigation, or will Boehner form a New House Committee?
* Did the illegal Obamatrade of one deserter, US Sergeant for five Taliban Generals benefit the Taliban more than it benefitted the US?
* Did this illegal Obamatrade “provide material assistance to a terrorist organization?” If so, then Obama has committed a Felony, by Federal Law.
* Was this illegal Obamatrade “contrary to American National Security?”
* Does any aspect of this illegal Obamatrade rise to the level of “Dereliction of Duty” by the Commander in Chief of the US Military?
* If so, would Impeachment of Obama be a deterrent punishment enough “to make sure that this never happens again?”
That would make him an enemy combatant.

I betcha the Prez has already arranged that a special select Military Medical Board, by secret order of the Prez, will magically determine that Bergdahl was mentally impaired when he walked off his post. And therefore Bowe will be kept incommunicado, away from the press and public eye for as long as possible so he can heal. This was already alluded to today by a Medical team that examined him in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
.... It is also very probable that it will also be determined that the aforementioned specially diagnosed mental impairment was actually made much worse by the very harsh conditions under his imprisonment by his Taliban captors.
.... And furthermore, because of his mental impairment he will therefore be determined to be unable to give a factual account of what he did nor can he be considered responsible for any anti American statements and/or treasonous actions that he may or may not have made during the 5 years of his captivity.
..... In short ..... Bergdahl will be magically transformed into an innocent victim of one of Bush's disgusting Illegal wars that the enlightened Prez is currently freeing us from those painful chains of Republicanian Imperialist bondage.

Such a note is interesting in context of desertion charges but to legally renounce citizenship a person must do it in person at a U.S. embassy, or consulate.
If the kid joined up to surrender and Obama paid a ransom to get him back, as suggested in a thread below, that would be dire, even for America’s first Halfrican president.

This is quickly going down the toilet for the WH. This is one stunt that they cannot spin their way out of. I had just visited the FB page that the servicemen started blowing this thing wide open. Most people are outraged that this happened. Unbelievably, there are still some low lives that are defending the traitor and also defending the traitor that made the deal possible. The 800 lb gorilla in the room is that 6 months down the road when one (or all) of the pieces of excrement that were released from Gitmo come back to America with a significant attack on our soil. That would be the just like the bastards to rub this in our faces. They are probably planning this already. I’m so mad I could spit nails! Congress just needs to go home. Quit paying em!
