Obama’s big EPA announcement tomorrow translates directly to higher electricity prices

The President thinks his plan will “boost the economy by $43 billion to $74 billion” – he’s living in a fantasy world.

From Bloomberg (apparently one of those “read in” to tomorrow’s announcement): President Barack Obama will propose cutting greenhouse-gas emissions from the nation’s power plants by an average of 30 percent from 2005 levels by 2030, according to people briefed on the plans.

From Bloomberg (apparently one of those “read in” to tomorrow’s announcement): President Barack Obama will propose cutting greenhouse-gas emissions from the nation’s power plants by an average of 30 percent from 2005 levels by 2030, according to people briefed on the plans.

The proposal, scheduled to be unveiled by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency tomorrow morning, represents one of the boldest steps the U.S. has taken to fight global warming — and a political gamble.

Obama signaled both the importance of the rule to his legacy on environmental protection and the bruising fight ahead by joining a conference call today with congressional Democrats, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and White House counselor John Podesta to rally support.

Obama dismissed complaints that the rule will hurt the economy by driving up electricity prices, and told the Democrats listening: “Please go on offense” to promote the plan’s benefits, said two people who were on the call, including Representative Gerry Connolly, a Virginia Democrat.

Connolly and another person on the call said the president suggested that rather than having an adverse effect on the economy — as critics say — his rule to limit carbon pollution will boost the economy by $43 billion to $74 billion.

The point is to make it unaffordable for the middle class to afford energy usage.

Of course, “the poor” (ie, preferred leftist demographics) will be subsidized by higher taxes on the non-preferred who are already paying higher energy prices.

"does not require excerpting."

Thanks, I didn't know that, especially considering it includes a link to Bloomberg.

As with most of Watt's articles, there is at least as much information in the comments as there is in the article.

2030 ?

Obama will be long gone by then.

Anyone else notice how prices have gone up under Obama already?

Maybe the GOP should run on that.

2030 is a fair piece down the road.

What needs to happen is for the Republican party to convince the utilities that they should DO NOTHING in the next few years, in the expectation that a more business-friendly government will be in place to de-fang the EPA and reverse the Obama fiats.

That presupposes, of course, that a "more business-friendly" government will have the stones to de-fang the EPA in the face of huge Liberal/environmentalist/media panic and condemnation...

The development of a Fascist State like Hitler had in 1930’s Germany, and what Obama almost has now in the nearly former USA, depends upon opposition leaders who refuse to lead the opposition, but continue to stay in power by support of their morally weak supporters.

The last attempt to oppose Obama failed when Boehner, Cantor, McConnell and McCain caved in to the stonewalling refusal to negotiate by Reid and Obama in late 2013 and early 2014.

Until effective voter pressure can be brought to bear on the Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate to replace the Republican Leadership in the House and Senate, Obama will continue to “Fundamentally transform the United States of America” into the most powerful Fascist Empire that the World has ever known.

Will these opposition Congressmen and women act before the November 2014 Election, or will they continue to wait to lose again, as usual, to the Left Wing, low information Voter in November, 2014?

BTW, money and reason are wasted on multimillionaire career politicians as they cannot be bought or convinced - - - they are the hardened professional criminal politicians that we have, for decades, elected and tolerated, gratefully for the “free” stuff that they have bought our votes with.

Obama is just doing as he was raised up to do, and will never change.

Our opposition Republican Leaders are doing everything that they can to make sure Obama is successful, and they will never change.

The change must come from opposition House Members and Senators in “both” parties, before low-information voters have made up their minds about whether or not to continue the status quo.

The Summer of 2014 is the last chance for We, the People to force our House and Senate Members to change their leadership before Labor Day, 2014, when early voting begins?

That would be a big NO. When has the "opposition" ever done anything substantial to rein in these out of control agencies? The Rs talk a good game, especially around election time, hold worthless dog-and-pony hearings and in the end, vote to up the budget.

NO.... no fines, that would be just plain silly,

What he'll do is levy taxes! New taxes on Cinders, Ash, Plumes and Dikes.
