With “Chelsea” Manning as a parallel barometer of the condition of certain elements of our supposedly selective volunteer military, it is no surprise that there are misfits. This entire “exchange” is a PR effort for our obamaumao to look good in the ME and look good to certain segments of lower rank service people. A very good indication of the intent to degrade the discipline in the ranks, as part of the continuing effort to deconstruct all traditional institutions in the US. Part of the master plan. Very easily looked up in the finer points of communist manifestos.

our REAL local hero MIA, Matt Maupin was a PFC when he went missing. As time passed the length of service in absentia when he was found he was buried as a SSgt.

compare the families here, Maupin’s dad Keith has founded the Yellow Ribbon Campaign and its turned into a huge support for our soldiers. he is a proud man of God who loves his country and although heartbreaking to lose his son, he honors America and his sons service.

this crew on the other hand.....

There will be more coming out, especially the father’s tweets, none of which support our troops (mission aside). They home schooled the kid (would do to define just what that meant— after all they are they living in “white power” Idaho, and if they are then they are the useful cut outs for an islamist in chief’s operation. The use of this demography has been well examined by the exhaustive research into the Murrah Federal Building bombing and the loser white supremacists/bombers McVeigh and Nichols— if one believes that is who they really were).

This entire episode stinks of islamic manipulation of the Executive and CIC. With a muzzie CIA chief anything is possible downline.

The net result here is that we are leaving over 9K troops in Afghan after we “leave” and this is setting up the worst bloodbath on them one could perceive— returning the leadership to “Qatar” (how long will they stay there under Qatari house arrest..... NOT very). Maybe they’ll get droned— slim hope.

I am an (relatively) old vet of the 25th ID but I follow some 25th blogs and FB pages and let me tell ya, the grunts arent happy.

At all.

thats enough for me, all i need to know who this desserter really is. one thing he sure isnt, thats a hero.

This story is so odd, and to think we have 2 more years of this mess.

I see the regime trying to make a hero out of this guy.
I see Nick Berg
I see The Manchurian Candidate
I see dead people

I feel sorry for the shock the people who are praising this guy will feel when the truth comes out.

I don’t mean to keep harping on this...but a word you used piqued my interest. You said there were ‘conflicting reports’. There rely haven’t been, though. Members of his unit fairly universally state that he disappeared in the middle of the night. I don’t think there is much question at all, as to the ‘what’ of the situation...which is simple - he walked away fron his unit.

You are trying to come up with reasons ‘why’ that may exonerate him. And you are right, all we can do is speculate about that.

I’ve never been in combat, but I was in the Army. I can tell you that leaving your post, and not being where you are supposed to be, is a huge infraction - this is something that is drilled into you. The only other thing drilled into your head even more is to always have your weapon, and never under any circumstance, leave it lying around...which Bowe did.

So his behaviour is very odd. His dad’s beard is odd. His dad’s praisingallah in a foreign tongue is odd. The email’s attributed to Bowe by Hastings are odd. Dad’s alleged tweets from today are odd. All of these items are coming together to form a picture or Bowe and his family...and its not a good picture.

I think Bowe was idealistic...couldn’t understand there is evil in this world...humanized and even sympathized with the Taliban. And he went off to attempt to be the next Johnny Walker. I think dad may have started out faking solidarity with the muslims, but by now seems to have some sort of Stockholm syndrome by proxy.

I’m really just very sad that Bowe will get so much more attention than the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who went there and did their duty without incident.

You are clouding the issue. I don’t care about them or their motives. You are pointing at scenery for the tourists.

Lets look at facts and results.

1. Desertion or AWOL at the least.
2. Several Dead on missions looking for him.
3. He, alone, survives capture for years when all experience would indicate his head being forfeit.
4. His father, and his cause, is nowhere to be seen until his release is imminent.

I don’t care about their character or their motives; they don’t even amount to pawns in the game that is being played.

5. Five top level terrorists with toplevel terrorist skills released.

Bergdahl pere is either a moron or a dastard. We’ve said the same about Obama.

They NEED to be mocked.

What we do know so far definitely paints Bergdahl in a pretty unheroic light.

The emails released in an interview by his own parents (and confirmed as genuine) has him saying things that go way past disillusionment for America and her Armed Forces, it borders on outright hatred. Everything he wrote, said and did points to his desertion.

In his last email, he wrote that he was ashamed to be an American, that America was a disgusting horror, for his family to forgive him, and he repeatedly insulted the troops. He mailed back his uniform and books. He specifically asked about leaving his post right before leaving his post.

After what he's said, and the circumstances of his disappearance, I would not be surprised if he not only deserted, but actually tried to defect to the Taliban. Only to find that the Taliban weren't exactly what he thought they were. Why else would he go into the mountains? He had to have had a destination in mind, and he had to have to known that that area was infested with Taliban.

IMHO, everything seems to point to Bergdahl deserting at the very least or even trying to defect until the Taliban had him dragged kicking and screaming into reality. Just look at what he said, wrote and did before disappearing:

The future is too good to waste on lies," Bowe wrote. "And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong. I have seen their ideas and I am ashamed to even be american. The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting."

Bowe concluded his e-mail with what, in another context, might read as a suicide note. "I am sorry for everything," he wrote. "The horror that is america is disgusting." Then he signed off with a final message to his mother and father. "There are a few more boxes coming to you guys," he said, referring to his uniform and books, which he had already packed up and shipped off. "Feel free to open them, and use them."

In the early-morning hours of June 30th, according to soldiers in the unit, Bowe approached his team leader not long after he got off guard duty and asked his superior a simple question: If I were to leave the base, would it cause problems if I took my sensitive equipment?

from the article:

I’ve been reporting for over a week (along with the AP and WaPo) that Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, the US soldier who’s gone missing in eastern Afghanistan, walked off the base on his own accord.

Now, somebody close to the people searching for Bergdahl has repeated this assertion saying that the soldier left “a note behind that said he was going to the mountains to find himself. He took a journal and 4 or 5 knives with him.” My source tells me that Bergdahl arrived at a village and asked if anybody spoke English. That’s when he was captured.

My source tells me that there is no doubt Bergdahl deserted, which in a time of war is punishable by a court martial at the least, or even execution.

Way to go ZERO.

You trade a deserter for 5 dangerous thugs.
What a great commander-in-chief.
Even Jimmah Katah couldn't top that! ! ! ! !

"I don’t know if we’ll ever know."

We have his own words and that of his fellow soldiers.
He hated America. He deserted. . . . Plain & simple. . . .

“Forwarded from Jeff Howard. “We were at OP Mest, Paktika Province, Afghanistan. It was a small outpost where B Co 1-501st INF (Airbone) ran operations out of, just an Infantry platoon and ANA counterparts there. The place was an Afghan graveyard. Bergdahl had been acting a little strange, telling people he wanted to “walk the earth” and kept a little journal talking about how he was meant for better things. No one thought anything about it. He was a little “out there”. Next morning he’s gone. We search everywhere, and can’t find him. He left his weapon, his kit, and other sensitive items. He only took some water, a compass and a knife. We find some afghan kids shortly after who saw an american walking north asking about where the taliban are. We get hits on our voice intercepter that Taliban has him, and we were close. We come to realize the kid deserted his post, snuck out of camp and sought out Taliban… to join them. We were in a defensive position at OP Mest, where your focus is to keep people out. He knew where the blind spots were to slip out and that’s what he did. It was supposed to be a 4-day mission but turned into several months of active searching. Everyone was spun up to find this guy. News outlets all over the country were putting out false information. It was hard to see, especially when we knew the truth about what happened and we lost good men trying to find him. PFC Matthew Michael Martinek, Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, SSG Clayton Bowen, PFC Morris Walker, SSG Michael Murphrey, 2LT Darryn Andrews, were all KIA from our unit who died looking for Bergdahl. Many others from various units were wounded or killed while actively looking for Bergdahl. Fighting Increased. IEDs and enemy ambushes increased. The Taliban knew that we were looking for him in high numbers and our movements were predictable. Because of Bergdahl, more men were out in danger, and more attacks on friendly camps and positions were conducted while we were out looking for him. His actions impacted the region more than anyone wants to admit. There is also no way to know what he told the Taliban: Our movements, locations, tactics, weak points on vehicles and other things for the enemy to exploit are just a few possibilities. The Government knows full well that he deserted. It looks bad and is a good propaganda piece for the Taliban. They refuse to acknowledge it. Hell they even promoted him to Sergeant which makes me sick. I feel for his family who only want their son/brother back. They don’t know the truth, or refuse to acknowledge it as well. What he did affected his family and his whole town back home, who don’t know the truth. Either way what matters is that good men died because of him. He has been lying on all those Taliban videos about everything since his “capture”. If he ever returns, he should be tried under the UCMJ for being a deserter and judged for what he did. Bergdahl is not a hero, he is not a soldier or an Infantryman. He failed his brothers. Now, sons and daughters are growing up without their fathers who died for him and he will have to face that truth someday.”

YES! IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK!

Why don;t you start by asking the families of those who were killed looking for the POS who willfully walked away from his post in the middle of the night? We have first hand witnesses (villagers) who say they saw him in their villages (more than one) asking to meet the Taliban. His first hand account on Taliban TV says he was taken from the back of a patrol. We know he was on guard duty.

Who the hell are you? The newly minted family spokesman? You have been all over every other thread on this issue trumpeting the same bullcrap. The history of this loon is well documented from the time of his “departure” by those first hand witnesses and then we have the family praising Allah as the most merciful and compassionate?

I’ve had it with you and the rest of your Hollyweird crowd who couldn’t face the fact that it was they who screwed up Kalifornja so they hit their reset button and decided to infect that town in Idaho you call home and start the process all over again.

Did you just maybe start to consider this person you know who is a “close personal friend” of the family is just as FOS as well? Hmmm?

Something is very, very wrong here and it all starts and ends with the family.

As to the Sgt. himself...irrespective of the amount of time he was held...the circumstances of his going missing need to be investigated. He had written to his parents telling them he had lost faith with the mission, was ashamed to be an American, and was thinking of going AWOL.

FReepers need to keep an eye on the MSM reporting. I just heard Imus (yes, he IS still alive) offer that the release was a nice diversion from the VA mess.

Wonder if McCain stands by his statement from 2008 - "we have nothing to fear from an Obama Presidency..."

If you know anyone serving in Afghanistan ask them if they have received extra training on how to escape capture recently.

How to get out of handcuffs, zip ties, one room buildings and such.

I think our jug eared CiC is about to sacrifice the lives of our military men and women for political purposes.

The close personal friend you question is an impeccable source and one I would trust with anything. I know you don’t know me, or him, and this is basically an anonymous board, but I will tell you that my source is the real deal and an excellent man of sterling reputation.
