Aaron Hernandez killed two men over spilled drink: Prosecutors
New York Post ^ | May 28, 2014 | AP

...Prosecutor Patrick Haggan said that in the months leading up to the shooting, Hernandez had become increasingly convinced that people “had been testing, trying or otherwise disrespecting him when he frequented nightclubs in the area.”

Haggan told the court Hernandez and a friend drove from Connecticut to Boston that night to go to a nightclub called Cure. They were standing at the edge of the dance floor when de Abreu accidentally bumped into Hernandez, smiled at him and did not apologize, according to prosecutors.

Haggan said Hernandez became agitated and told his friend that de Abreu had deliberately bumped him, though neither the victims nor club staff knew Hernandez was upset.

Hernandez and his friend left and went to another club, where Hernandez was convinced de Abreu and his friends had followed them, according to Haggan. The prosecutor said there was no evidence the other men ever left Cure.

Haggan said Hernandez drove around until he saw de Abreu and Furtado and their friends going to their car and followed them, pulling up alongside them as they stopped at a red light and opening fire.

Hernandez leaned out the driver’s side, said “Yo, what’s up now,” followed by a racial slur, then fired at least five shots into the car, killing de Abreu and Furtado, Haggan said....

OK, several observations here -

1. Aaron Hernandez is one seriously insecure person.

2. Hard to believe that the Patriots, professional organization that they are, signed this guy without knowing about any of this baggage - there were no warning signs? Really?

3. Hard to believe he's only 24.

Do you think the league will try to punish the Patriots?

Not the Pats fault, Hernandez is a psycopath who played them also.

I’m just curious because Robert Kraft has created such a “culture of excellence” in all his other companies, you can hear him talk about it in interviews, yet somehow this criminal thug managed to evade all the background checks.

??

Patriots have signed a few clunkers too.

Randy Moss comes to mind.

I think the Pats may proclaim signing excellence.

The reality is the Pats have been successful because they got lucky with Tom Brady, they may cheat occasionally, and most importantly they stick to this one rule.

IT IS BETTER TO DUMP A VETERAN PLAYER 1 YEAR TOO EARLY THAN 1 YEAR TOO LATE.

I doubt the team thought they were drafting the Dexter of the NFL, a mass murder. They did know he had issues, but so do most of the young men that get drafted by the NFL.

Why do you think Hernandez wasn't selected until the fifth round? He played for Urban Meyer on a National Championship team. He even won All-American honors.

The consensus was that he might have had first round caliber talent, but he also had various "issues"; - including gang-related connections.

So....what’ts your point? If the Pat’s did not take him in the 4th round, not the 5th, someone would have. There’s not one team in the NFL, or anyone else that thought he was a killer. He’s not the only killer in the NFL. One player had his wife shot. Ray Lewis was involved in a nightclub murder & got off.

The rumors I’m hearing is that this surprises the who’s who of Gainsville not at all, and that the Pouncy twins are in on this stuff too.

I wouldn;t assume they didn’t know anything. Lawrence Taylor was a mess when he played for the Giants, but his talent made them look the other way.

The stiller's, Fats Holmes, defense lineman on the 70 Superbowl teams, got high and stupid and fired a rifle at a state police helicopter, and the Rooney's got him off with a wrist slap.

Football always goes blind when the bad guys can play, until it's too big to cover up, then here comes the bus...

Too true; for Lawrence Taylor it all came apart when he retired.

Never under estimate Urban Meyers desire to win including burying player misdeeds. I doubt New England new 100% what they were getting.

How many murder convictions now is this now for Hernandez?

Here in Connecticut it seems like he’s got a new murder charge every month.

And yep, he’s a psychopath for sure.

Urban Meyer knew he was a thug when he recruited him.

“Aaron Hernandez killed two people over spilled drink”

Yeh that’s what gangstas do.

Police to Bubba: “Why did you kill that guy?”

Bubba: “He called me a name.”
