A long-standing Australian senator on Monday brought what he said could be a pipe bomb to the national parliament to demonstrate his view that new security regulations are unsafe.
Senator Bill Heffernan, a member of the ruling conservative Liberal Party, held up the pipe and what appeared to be some sticks of dynamite during a committee hearing in Canberra.
"Clearly you can do what you bloody well like," said Heffernan, an outspoken former farmer who became a member of the national parliament in 1996.

Due to how serious the security establishment takes these actions nowadays: he will be facing a court.
Our Liberal Party is conservative - the Labor Party are our Socialists (or your liberals)

It’s security for appearance sake. I have some experience with Orlando airport, they do “random” pat downs with a timer. The timer is timed such that every group of people will see someone patted down for appearance sake. Is this an effective deterrent? Or, effective conditioning?
