The company plans to have the treats off all of its store shelves by March 2015.

"This is something we've been working toward for some time, and feel it's the right thing to do for pets and our customers," said PetSmart spokeswoman Erin Gray.

Investigators at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration haven't been able to prove that treats made in China are making pets ill. But since 2007, it has received more than 4,800 complaints of pet illnesses and more than 1,000 reports of dog deaths after eating Chinese-made chicken, duck or sweet potato jerky treats.

u have to wonder what they are making pet food out of in Chinese. and at the same time, I am pretty sure 200 million Chinese residents are always looking for their missing pets.

I can just imagine dog treats made out of stuff the Chinese won’t eat.

At least dog’s are getting some protection, but people don’t know whether their chicken came from China or not.

I guess we have to wait until we have 1000+ people deaths. Of course linking those deaths to china when the products aren’t labeled is going to be really difficult.

Exactly..every pet death I hear about has to do with food or jerky treats made in China..our dogs only eat their special wet and dry WD and ID pet food since they both have sensitive stomachs..food is made in the USA

Maybe it isn’t treats at all. Maybe it is the evil drug Trifexis.

this debacle is beginning to sound like a hannibal movie, can u just imagine finding out that your dog/cat has been eating food/treats made from “their own kind”?, thats like eating at an asian restaurant and later finding out u were actually eating well done liver.(but not lamb or cow liver).

This has been going on since at least 2007, I remember Tammy Bruce writing a lot about poisonous pet food at that time as well as toothpaste & monkfish.

More than a few years ago, but truth be told, Drywall from Florida had issues with too much radioactive matter as well and likely still does, so you have to be careful of your source no matter where it comes from, but China will always be a Red Flag as far as I’m concerned.

Well, it will take a year for the doggies to eat them all.

I stopped buying Chinese dog treats, and all Chinese dog foods three years ago. I love my dog too much to poison her with cheap food, even though she probably would eat whatever I give her.

You might be wondering what happens to the organs if they don't get from the donor to the recipient fast enough...
