Oh, Good Lord. 80 troops (only) is a recipe for MORE disaster for liberating a couple of hundred girls who will never be liberated. Once they were taken, they will forever be ‘shunned’ and targeted by the communities they came from.

If they let it be known that they're in Chad they want it to be known. That being the case, there's no reason to believe they're in Chad or that it's eighty guys unless they want Boko to be able to verify that much so they'll believe whatever else comes out.
Besides, it's a good bet they're coordinating with Israelis and French on the ground as well.
