"I don't believe in guns."
People actually "say" this. How could you "believe" or "not believe" in a gun, or a rock or anything inanimate? These people have "mantras" not active thoughts.
I asked her, "Why not?" And she said, "Well, I just don't believe in them." Now there's an answer I could get my head around. "Great Reason" I said, "I hadn't thought of that." ... ending the "discussion."
Couple of weeks ago my neighbor, who works from home in IT as I do, stopped me in my driveway to tell me that two men had just tried to break in his house in broad daylight. They tried all of the doors as my neighbor sat on the phone with 9/11. They left when they realized he was home.
He suggested I be on the lookout. I laughed and said, “If they come in my house, they’ll get shot. His jaw dropped as I revealed my carry weapon.
“Yeah, but is it always handy?” he asked.
“Yes.”
"I don't believe in guns."
Whenever someone says that, I ask them if they don't believe they exist, or what? What an idiotic thing to say.
