Beauprez snags endorsements, Gessler blasts GOP opponents

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez snagged the endorsement of high-profile politicians this week, including winning the support of former GOP presidential nominee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

“As a former governor, I can tell you that Bob Beauprez has exactly what Colorado needs to lead,” Romney wrote in an email sent to Beauprez supporters. “Bob’s unique combination of passion, drive, conservative values and experience will make him an outstanding governor.”

Beauprez was the most prominent Romney surrogate in Colorado during the 2012 presidential campaign — the Republican lost the state by about 5 points to President Barack Obama — and was rumored to be among Romney’s top prospects for a Cabinet post.

Great, that clears up any doubts as to whom Conservatives need to support for CO Governor... Scott Gessler it is.

“You know, and I told [Beauprez] at the time, ‘Look,’ – because he was saying, ‘You get out of the race. I’ll get in.’ And I said, ‘Bob, I have 7,000 contributors.’ You know what, Peter? It’s now over 10,000 individual contributors to my campaign. [Do] you know what the average is? Sixty-seven dollars. God love these people. I’ll take their endorsement any day over Mitt Romney’s. I’ll tell you that right now.”

Here is my problem with this whole situation. As soon as CO had their mess during the last election that gave us Hickenlooper, the PTB ran to their comfort zone: we need to find an old fart who will unite us, one who people have fond memories of.

ENOUGH! Why aren’t we developing a crop of new candidates, people who will carry us into the future.

Two reasons I have this morning. One, we continue to turn our kids over to their indoctrination centers (public schools), weakening us every single generation a little bit more.

Next, we are too in love with the almighty dollar. That whole thought process could take us days to work through. But I see it on FR way too much. My schools are better (but not by much, incremental-ism is effective), and companies (not all) have flaunted stewardship to an extreme.

The difference between Tancredo, Beauprez and Gessler is this: the first two lost statewide (Tancredo, even as a 3rd party candidate, failed to get Hickenlooper below 50% in 2010. Beauprez’s run in 2006 was a similar fiasco against Auggie Ritter), but Gessler has won statewide as Secretary of State, and with more votes than Hickenlooper received in 2010. Gessler IS part of the new crop, and it’s a no-brainer now who should get the nomination. Unfortunately, we know how dumb the CO GOP is.

I think Gessler is a great choice, just pointing out that the PTB immediately ran to their “go to guys” to unite the state. The voters have “fond memories” of Beauprez, they say.

Voters seem to like Hickenlooper, too. The people Hick has burned didn’t vote for him to begin with.

Fond memories of Beauprez ? He hasn’t run a successful race in 10 years (and only 4 years in the House at that). If I were a Dem, I’d have fond memories that Auggie Ritter barely broke a sweat running against him in 2006.

Bringing in scum like Slick Willard to solidify Bob’s RINO credentials is like the cherry on top to keep this guy as far away from the Gubernatorial nomination as humanly possible.

I looked up Rosen. I love people that “self describe” themselves as “Conservative” (as his bio claims). It’s usually because others would NOT describe them as that. He seems like a RINO Establishment guy. If Rosen is pimping Beauprez, that’s pretty much all the evidence you need.

He is a RINO - party trumps person is his motto. And he is pro choice.

Don’t elevate that position to legitimacy by calling it what the opposition does to make it sound acceptable. “Pro-choice” should be solely identified with the position on whether schoolchildren are denied their right to ANY education other than being warehoused in a Stalinist Sausage Indoctrination Facility. Call it what it is, pro-abortion or infanticide.

So he’s a liberal pretending to be a Republican Conservative. We have a lot of those these days, “Concern Trolls.” They’re always worried that Republicans might nominate Conservatives instead of Socialists. Very telling.

Eastern Establishment, Rockefeller Republicans, Progressives... basically big government rich liberals. Most of them didn’t want to join the Democrats because they might have to associate with those “dark people” (AKA, “The Help”).

I agree Gessler seems like a better choice than Beuaprez, he polls better against Hinclepooper and is both a fresh face and previous statewide winner.

The most important thing though is that the unelectable Tancredo isn’t nominated, I gather he is the “Tommy the tank” that some people on this thread are referring too, more like Thomas the tank engine.

Latest poll shows any of the 3 could win the primary.
