Colombians are in the same boat we are. Most have no idea what is going on, the rest are powerless. Rest assured Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador, Venezuela, central american with the exception of Costa Rica, Mexico, are all narco nations. They're governments are beholden to the cartels. I have NO DOUBT that ours is as well. Farc is just like the Muslim brotherhood, they are the henchmen for the drug cartels who traffic drugs under the guise of ideology. --------------- The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) has announced a unilateral truce during the country’s upcoming presidential election. The FARC said Friday that the ceasefire during the May 25 vote is a gesture of goodwill. The truce is scheduled to run from May 20 through May 28 and will also include, for the first time, the forces of Colombia’s second largest rebel group, National Liberation Army (ELN). According to Pablo Catatumbo, a high-ranking leader of the FARC, all rebel units have been ordered to halt all offensive operations against the Colombian military or infrastructure during the truce. "The insurgency doesn't believe in the Colombian electoral system," said Catatumbo, adding, "Nevertheless, we believe that a national clamor (for peace) should be heeded.” It will be the third time the rebel group has observed unilateral ceasefires since the start of peace talks with the Colombian government in November 2012. This is while, President Juan Manuel Santos, who is running for re-election, has repeatedly refused to accept a truce. On May 13, Santos reiterated that he is determined to continue fighting the rebels until they sign a peace agreement. The Colombian government and the FARC have been engaged in peace talks in Cuba’s capital, Havana, since November 2012, to resolve a decades-long armed conflict. The FARC is Latin America’s oldest insurgent group and has been fighting the government since 1964. Bogota estimates that 600,000 people have been killed and more than 4.5 million others have been displaced due to the fighting. The rebel organization is thought to have around 8,000 fighters operating across a large swathe of the eastern jungles of the Andean nation. - See more at: http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2014/05/16/362905/farc-declares-truce-for-colombia-vote/#sthash.inoq3l8w.dpuf
