Government run health care has come under increased scrutiny as America has learned of the bureaucratic decisions to let patients die rather than receive treatment.
No, this story isnt about Obamacare, although it does provide a pretty bleak look into the future as the death panels and cost based health decisions come flowing out of Health and Human Services cubicle farms.
This preview is provided by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, a Department which runs the crumbling VA health system.
CNN reports that at least 40 veterans died waiting to see a doctor at the Phoenix Veterans Health Care System, and that the bureaucrats in charge had created a secret list of patients who were determined to be too ill to help, so they denied them care and allowed them to die.
This sickening revelation that top level federal government career officials played God with the lives of those who served in our nation in the military should stand as a wake up primal scream to anyone who still harbors the idealistic notion of a beneficent government run health care system for the rest of us.
If those charged with caring for the men and women who put their lives on the line for our nation can casually throw away their lives by simply denying them basic access to care, then what will they do with regular people without a special claim for benefits when they get the chance?
Incredibly, the Secretary of Veteran Affairs under current law does not even have the power to fire these top level career employees due to federal employment laws...

We are nothing more than useless serfs. Some will live large until we’re all dead. Then they’ll eat each other. Me? This deluge can’t come soon enough!
Have a nice day! :)
To ask the question (in the headline) is to answer it.
100% Agree.
I should put it in my tagline, I say it about as often:
Obamacare is going to make the VA Med System look like the Mayo Clinic. The VA has doctors, for starters.
Funny thing .... in 2006, the V.A. was heralded as the perfect model of government-run healthcare!!!
Me? My thoughts? Look around at the facilities across the country. How many, have been undergoing serious facelifts, upgrades, buildings added to them? How many of these same facilities, are now on the latest stink list?
Obamacare is going to make the VA Med System look like the Mayo Clinic. The VA has doctors, for starters.
Sad but oh so funny and true too.
The intended and unintended consequences of Obama’s term as president are going to reverberate for decades to come.
Oh, the buildings are okay, it’s getting an appointment and getting treated that stink. There’s even a shopping mall in the Dallas VAMC. I’ll do my shopping at Wal-Mart, Kroger and my local malls, it’s getting my health back that I’d like from a hospital.
It is the obvious result of government run anything.
They have NO INCENTIVE to be efficient nor competent.
Their ONLY incentive is cost control.
The ONLY result will be substandard and delayed care.
Oh....and “solving” the Social Security funding crisis......
They killed my brother. My prayers are with you FRiend.
My uncle had been conscripted in the First World War, and when the second came along, he was a deputy sheriff in the county where he had grown up. As a law enforcement officer, he volunteered his services to the US Navy, even though he was then already 45 years old, and they accepted him, to serve in the Navy Shore Patrol. While on duty in San Diego, he was dealing with a most boisterous bunch of drunken sailors, and ended up in the sick bay with his leg broken in several places. He was separated under disability and sent back home, in 1946, where he resumed his duties as a law enforcement officer, as undersheriff, but he always had this bum leg.
He was in and out of the VA a number of times, and while he could get around, it limited his opportunities. He spent a short time in the state legislature, but came home after one term, and took the job as town marshal, directing young couples to not go necking in the park, and for the young men to be driving with BOTH hands on the wheel.
But by 1961, he retired completely, and was the genial host at a number of gatherings at his little cabin on the Wisconsin River. He would return to the Madison VA hospital as need arose, and developed much affection for the place. One winter, near the end of his life, he decided he didn’t want to sit around home and endure the chores attending to the house, so he checked himself into the VA hospital, only to discover the austerity measures imposed by then President Carter resulted in much diminished provision of care, and he was relegated to a much lower and rougher degree of attendance than had happened before, but he did not have the option, for several weeks, of being back in his own house. When he got back home, he swore up and down, that he would not go back to “that Goddamned Nazi concentration camp” again.
Bill died a few months later, not necessarily because of the treatment he got at VA, but he was then past 80. Big funeral, some came because they really admired the guy, some out of respect for a WW I and WW II veteran, some out of curiosity, and a goodly number who wanted to make sure for themselves he really WAS dead. I think the local administrator of the VA hospital was among that number.
I’ve been waiting over three years to get benefits for hearing loss. I can’t prove anything but I firmly believe they want me to apply for welfare. That will never happen but that’s what I believe!!
The buildings and the perks are for the bureaucrats and staff NOT the patients! I fell off the turnip wagon just yesterday too.

If the older ObamaVAcare is crumbling, then how long will it take for this new and improved Obamacare to crumble?
If these two Federal Medical Programs were to be combined, say on Christmas Eve this year, would the surviving name be : “OBAMA VERY AWFUL CARE?”
I agree with you.
Here, in Central Louisiana, the V.A. has been downgraded to a “we don’ do d’at here no mo’” status, meaning a lot of the care once given, has been shipped off to Shereveport, Houston, Little Rock, or who knows where, now. The decision has been made, now too, that unless you are on a stretcher, or in a wheelchair, you have to transport yourself, to one of those places.
I was iffy using that term. I meant it literally. Something is consuming him
Care to elaborate?
These two are just not aging well. He has some kind of lesion on his forehead, he’s shaky, skinny and slurring. And then he comes out with a story about her spending 6 mtts in head injury recovery? That’s not the old slicks tee, unless he’s trying to get her out of the deal
He’s not up for being First Lady
