Ancient Whale Graveyard Points to Genesis Flood
by Frank Sherwin, M.A. *
According to a recent evolutionary article, anywhere from 6.5 to 9 million years ago a catastrophic event occurred in what is now the Atacama region of Chile.1 Four distinct layers of fossil marine mammals were unearthed on the edge of one of the driest deserts on the planet, leading evolutionists to exclaim, There has never been a find of this size or this diversity anywhere in the world.2 Indeed, at least 40 baleen (water-filtering) whalesspecies including minke, fin, and the modern blue whaleswere found, as well as seals, dolphins, and sharks.
The Proceedings of the Royal Society B study on this amazing discovery begins with a paean to evolutionism, claiming that marine mammals evolved from trophic obscurity.1 In other words, land mammalsdoing just fine where they weredecided to venture back into water, where they made incredible physiological and anatomical adjustments to their new aquatic life. One secular paleontologist asserts that although hard to imagine, this transition did in fact happen:
Looking at the great blue whale, 30 m [~100 feet] long, or a fast-swimming dolphin, it is hard to imagine how they evolved from terrestrial mammal ancestors, and yet that is what happened.3
With no compelling fossil evidence for these remarkable alterations, we begin our commentary on this Chilean discovery by recognizing that the creatures are 100 percent modern whales, seals, dolphins, and sharks. The fossils are remarkably complete, having being subjected to very little scavenging at death despite having a few nicks, possibly made by crabs, according to a BBC article.4

Before ANYONE posts a modern photo of a bunch of beached whales, please explain how WHALES, SEALS, DOLPHINS and SHARKS were all massively and quickly buried together?

Second verse of the “Old Troll” by Tolkien:
“Up came Tom with his big boots on.
Said he to Troll: “Pray, what is yon?
For it looks like the shin o’ my nuncle Tim,
As should be a-lyin’ in graveyard.
Caveyard! Paveyard!
This many a year has Tim been gone,
And I thought he were lyin’ in graveyard.”
They all drowned in a flood?
Dang! You’re right. Attributing this to Noah’s flood is ridiculous. I’m glad you can around and asked that question because I didn’t realize how silly that assertion was. Oh, well, maybe they’re trying to say the whales and sharks got stranded when the floods assuaged like the Bible says.
My guess is they probably died from the excess mud and sediment from the flood, then currents brought the carcasses and deposited them all in the same place and they were covered with more sediment before having much time to decay or be scavenged.
Interesting article.
Aliens.
and yet that is what happened.
Nothing advances science like asserting what the facts are without any evidence.
Of course. Maybe even time travelling ones at that...
The world below the brine,
Forests at the bottom of the sea, the branches and leaves,
Sea-lettuce, vast lichens, strange flowers and seeds, the thick tangle, openings, and pink turf,
Different colors, pale gray and green, purple, white, and gold, the play of light through the water,
Dumb swimmers there among the rocks, coral, gluten, grass, rushes, and the aliment of the swimmers,
Sluggish existences grazing there suspended, or slowly crawling close to the bottom,
The sperm-whale at the surface blowing air and spray, or disporting with his flukes,
The leaden-eyed shark, the walrus, the turtle, the hairy sea-leopard, and the sting-ray,
Passions there, wars, pursuits, tribes, sight in those ocean-depths, breathing that thick-breathing air, as so many do,
The change thence to the sight here, and to the subtle air breathed by beings like us who walk this sphere,
The change onward from ours to that of beings who walk other spheres.
—— Walt Whitman
The science is settled, the debate is over, knuckle dragger.
If you look at a map of the ring of fire, you’ll notice the west coast of South America has a huge subduction zone. There are lots of earthquakes and tsunamis over time. That’s one potential explanation. Another is that, over time, the coast has been uplifted so the fossils may well have been deposited underwater. I don’t know enough to assert any strong opinion in this specific case but there are many potential explanations other than the creation science.
Second, the fossil record is pretty complete for the retreat of the swamp dwelling land mammal back into tho ocean. This allowed him to exploit a notch in the environment that was beneficial and he thrived increasing his size for protection against predators as he had abundant food. Mammals evolved as land dwellers.
Possibility fresh water from rains killed them?
Then you begin your commentary with a false statement. Other reports describe differently: "The fossils include almost complete skeletons, many of them overlapping, for 40 large whales, along with dolphins, seals, large fish related to swordfish or marlins, and extinct species such as aquatic sloths and dolphins with walrus-like faces that lived six million to nine million years ago."
yeah, if they are salt water creatures, enough fresh water entering their environment could do it.
Yeppers, there is no such thing as plate tectonic activity.
Something like a tsunami caused by an underwater earthquake, or the concussion from a meteor strike into the ocean, would be more likely than the effects of rain over a period of 40 days and nights.
If you want to see intermediate examples, look at sea otters, seals, and walruses -- critters that are land-based, but well at home in the water.
