ST. LOUIS St. Louis city leaders were already gathered last night for an LGBT equality fundraiser, which turned suddenly into a celebration of the hometown Rams decision to draft the out gay defensive star Michael Sam in Saturday nights NFL draft.
Sam will be received with open arms by the city of St. Louis, no question about it, Mayor Francis Slay, among those gathered for the fundraiser, told BuzzFeed.

Cheering with particular glee were [Mayor] Slay and his lesbian sister, Monietta Slay, co-hosts of the party. (The Slay siblings, intimately involved in LGBT politics here, also have two gay brothers.) When Mayor Slay took the mic, he had his own gay sports news to be proud about, as he shared that In 2016, St. Louis will be the first US city to host the Out Games.
Bet his arms wasn’t the only thing open.
OK, Mayor.
Be sure to have a lot of hand sanitizer on hand.
Except it doesn’t work for HIV, so I guess you’re on your own with that.
But, hey, celebrate diversity and all that rot.
“Meat me in St. Louis.”
No way the Rams can cut him now.
It's not the "open arms" that give Americans pause about gays...it's their "open flies."
I completely agree. Between this and the pressure the NFL is going to put on Rams' coach Fisher, the Lambs are stuck with him. Oh well.. HA! Their problem!!
LOL
Oh they can (and will) cut him its just going to be high hilarity watching the over-reaction to it...the NFL deserves the embarrassment. They allowed themselves to be used.
Three words, “Anti-Trust Exemption”.
Holder is watching.
1950 : 857,000
1990 : 397,000
2013 : 318,000 (after 12 years of Mayor Slay).
How much time does St. Louis have left?
I think you’re right. And if he doesn’t start all hell will break loose on ESPN, et. al. as well.
We’ll see how if affects team morale. I don’t see how the players can play and the coaches coach with the PC police monitoring their every move like you know they will.
Unless and untill Sam is off the team, my football bets this season will be against St. Louis (unless the spread is unreasonably wide).
‘St’ Louis is a cow town’
Only two things come from there.....
Wonder if Jeff Fisher is regretting his decision yet...
How lovely. Maybe Sam and the Mayor can exchange each other’s excrement.
What makes you think it was his decision?
Look at me... look how upwardly mobile and tolerant I am! Look at me... look at me look at me... look how open minded I am.
Look! I’m hipster!
