Or, it is just training. why have riot police if you don’t train them?

Same reason Dept. of Homeland Security needs 2 billion rounds of ammunition, I guess.

Communist regimes have already murdered 200+ million of their own citizens in the past 114 years. I bet the Butchers of Beijing can make that look like chump change when they put their minds to it.

And the U.S. ruling class will be taking notes.

We did similar training in the Marine Corps in the early 70's.

Difference was, the rioters were liberal/progressive hippy types.

Gee... Cops the world over just LOVE those great Gestapo black BDUs, don’t they... they’re just so.... macho...

Well... the ones in Ukraine DID have that nice, fashionable blue urban camo... didn’t clash with their shoes or purses... they only “clashed” with the protestors...

(yeah... I know... you don’t have to say it...)

I went through Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 1978. I was just about the only Regular Army trainee in my company, most were Kentucky and Indiana National Guardsmen. They spent several weekends in this kind of training while I washed dishes in the mess hall in their stead. Nothing new.

Just as long as the police are loyal to the government, everything works out fine. However, you don’t find out if they’re loyal or not until an actual insurrection.

I was in Hong Kong a couple of months ago and happened upon some kind of political rally/protest,featuring many people,in a park near the Victoria Peak tram.Don't know what it was about...all the chants and placards were in Chinese...but the people seemed to be angry. There were a number of cops nearby...on foot,in cars and on motorcycles.I didn't see any threatening behavior on the part of the cops or the crowd.I asked one of the cops where the tram was and he told me but it was obvious that he had more important things on his mind.

Of course Hong Kong, technically speaking at least, has a very different set of laws, different police and different courts than does Mainland China.

Workers rioting is okay and encouraged before the revolution, never after.
