I speak Spanish as a second language-I learned it at home-in south Texas ranch country, people of all ethnicities are bilingual. MrT5’s family are Canadian French-from Quebec-and he spoke that French dialect quite well. I think speaking a second language is a good idea-and it looks good on a resume...
Why do we need the Uruguayan president to point this out?
Wait...
We have had this "flood" for over 30 years, and it seems no Americans have noticed.
5 million "American" babies, so far, and their attendant parasites.
Check it out at Walmart!
But the actual "AINOs" (Americans in name only), the "babies" are 60% of them.
They become the remoras. The real predators are the criminal adults.
Who would have said in 1965 that this would be the case - that Americans would become a minority in their own country?
And yet El Supremo Macho gloats over it.
It's always the same with the Conquistadors: "We will overwhelm you! We will take over, and rule you!".
What if we just don't go along with that?
What if we just refuse to call them "citizens" - because we didn't ask them to join the club, they broke in - and go back to deporting all the invaders?
While I understand what you wrote, and thank you for the clarification, we aren’t talking about a specific color or ‘race’ in that context. What I’m concerned about is the lack of desire to actually be an American, and join the melting pot that has sustained us through the immigration of many, many people of different backgrounds and cultures over a long period.
When people speak as this woman did, stating that “we” are going to ‘take back’ the Southwest, it isn’t an innocuous statement. It’s a statement of ‘us’ vs. ‘them’, and the ‘them’ in this context is what she seems to perceive as an illegitimate American culture. Irrespective of the variability in what makes up ‘Hispanic’ etc., for any group to aspire to dominate American culture, and to state so openly, is an aggressive mindset.
Whatever the term ‘Hispanic’ means, and I agree it includes a wide variety of people and backgrounds, this woman clearly thinks of herself as ‘Hispanic’, and as such part of a group distinct from other Americans.
I don’t care what color, race, place of national origin etc. that anyone who wants to be an American is. I just care that they want to ‘join’ us. This woman’s rhetoric is divisive and aggressive.
His bones may be there, but I think most of us suspect where the soul and spirit of this wretched man is today.
The REconquista movement and philosophy has been advocating the retaking of the Southwest by Latino separatists via the route of demographics due to disparate birthrates, augmented by immigration.
One of their first prominent politicians and activists of the movement was the current Mayor of Los Angeles so the fact is they are winning the numbers game.
In that intolerance, she is no different from any bigot, whether Hispanic, Chinese or Arab-whatever. No one who spreads hate like that wants to be a part of any sort of a melting pot of culture-the woman wouldn’t fit into any country with a mixed population-and that is every country-ecause to people like her, she is set apart from others and special-that is delusional at best.
There is a large population of black Hispanics in S. America and the Caribbean islands-several from Puerto Rico and Cuba have married into my family. And those from the Philippines are asian Hispanics-wonder how that offensive racist feels about them?
My family, along with many, many other already-mixed-with-Natives Spanish families came to what is now southwest Texas in the late 1700’s from Mexico to ranch where there was plenty of room. I’m going to bet that dumb woman’s family hasn’t been in the US more than a generation, and with that attitude, she will never really be an American.
Like we’re not already....
I really, really like what you wrote, and your family’s background. That’s the kind of America that I am proud of and love.
Unfortunately, there are too many who benefit from fanning the flames of ‘us vs. them’, and the most visible of them are front and center in the media, or in our own political system.
Thank you for the kind words. I don’t think this nonsense will prevail everywhere, or for much longer. But if places like Cali an NY want to become a third world hellhole, then it is looking like many other states will let them do it-all alone...
