My first real job interview was for Social Worker for the State. The unemployment worker wrote up the referral saying, this is supposed to be Affirmative action, but lets give it a shot. I'm Irish, he was Irish.
So I went to see the HR director for the Department, whose name was O'Mally. He looked at the referral, looked at me and asked, did you know this was a Affirmative Action referral? You don't look Affirmative Action. You can start in 3 weeks.

Well, wow, good for you. I just don’t understand how these rats can’t see that discrimination is discrimination.

Privilege? If I were a handicapped Spanish woman I would have advanced in my career at a much more rapid pace.
