Joe Manchin ponders gubernatorial run
Politico ^

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin said Sunday he’s keeping “all options open” on whether to seek the governor’s office in 2016 or remain in the Senate, where he has expressed frustration with partisanship and gridlock.

Manchin, a Democrat, said his time as governor was the most productive period in his life but he hasn’t felt the same way since his election to the Senate in 2010 to finish the term of the late Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd. Manchin, who served as West Virginia governor for six years, was elected to a full term in 2012.

No, Manchin’s only out for himself. He’s probably chafing mightily under Dingy Harry’s iron fist and wants to go back to Charleston where he’s boss.

Mancin is worried about having to run with Hillary leading the ticket. Obama is destroying the coal industry and Mancin is a member of the majority controlling the Senate.

He could become a Republican, and might get an inducement to switch parties.

Suppose November’s elections result in a 50-50 Democrat/Republican split. Dems stay in control because Joe Biden is the tie breaking vote. But suppose after we see a 50-50 split, Manchin changes parties. Then the GOP is in control, by 51-49. I could imagine the GOP could try to recruit someone to change parties if it gave them control of the Senate.

The only honest thing about Joe Manchin is he will keep (D) after his name.

The Maine Senator is considering switching sides.

I thought he was trying to help Hilary but I dont think Hilary will be able to win WV. Maybe if Rahall survives Manchin wants to carry him in 2016.

I’m sure his GUN GRABBING policies will go over well in his state, not to mention his vote FOR Obamacare.

...and yet I STILL REMEMBER FReepers telling us that, even though a Democrat, he was still on our side.

Hopefully you people learned a lesson.

Is there anyone stupid enough to vote for Slow Joe Manchin, the traitor of West Virginia, for any office in West Virginia?

I wonder what kind of liberal, pro-abortion, anti-gun, big government, anti-coal environmentalist candidate the RNCC will try to push on us West Virginians in that election?

Correct, the democrats (I don’t think it will be Hillary) have NO chance of winning WV in the POTUS election, it’s become safe Republican for President.

But Manchin isn’t thinking about “helping Rahall” or anybody but himself. He knows it’ll be tough for him to be reelected to the Senate in 2018, he’d be more likely to get elected Governor again. He clearly fears being out of office.

His seat being open would be music to my ears, but I really hope WV Republicans are able to win the Governorship in 2016, over him or whomever.

They ironically turned out the last GOP Governor (Old man Cecil Underwood, who had previously been a young Governor elected in 1956, was reelected in 1996 over a rat that was too liberal) in 2000 just when the state started voting GOP for President again and elected it’s first member of Congress since 1980.

I would not be surprised to see both Angus King and Manchin switch parties depending upon how well the GOP does this year in Senate races. The WV Democrats are built of a House of Cards at this point, and I don’t think he’s going to want to be the one that is the last man standing (unless he is a masochist).
