Doesn't happen often but occasionally, someone realizes that sometimes punishment for its own sake is a perversion of 'justice'.

Been working with old people my whole professional life, and knew all the old people in my family, staying with them helping them out.
In this country, people will not take care of their elders.
People don’t want big government? Pshaw!
No one will fight for the right to take care of their elders, and abolish medicare.
But it is sick.
No 93 year old should be unattended and unprotected by family. Looked after by family.
No 93 year old should live alone in a place where they are expected to protect themselves with a weapon, not any sooner than they should be expected to drive to the store to get food in the house.
If the cop shot this woman for fun, as some suggest, that’s beside my point you are picking at.
If she did not have a weapon and the cop is Nazi like and used her for target practice, treat him accordingly and make an example.
A 93 year old living alone to the point, in such a place where she expected to protect herself with a weapon is as much a travesty as a 5 year old living alone. And it is an embarrassment for us as a society.
Anyone who thinks this woman is right in protecting herself from an intruder with a gun is silly.

No problem. I turned down a senior management “transfer” to my then company’s plant in Graham years ago! Lots of things to recommend Texas, but weather and LEOs aren’t two of them (and maybe “dry counties” as well). Also, racism was alive there then. When I asked one of the city fathers if the community swimming pool was integrated, he said: “Of course it is, course the Ni—ers don’t come cause they know they ain’t welcome!” That kinda’ capsulates Texas for me. Also, you might be interested to know that there are substantial numbers of conservatives in California. Not every Californian who takes a job in Texas is a Liberal. particularly if he’s a businessman.
Actually, I am hoping that a lot of people “migrate” out of California, because like Texas today, so too was California before WWII. Our problems started when the defense plants here closed leaving all the “minority migrants” from the South (and that would include Texas) with nothing to do but procreate, drink, do drugs, and get the rest of us to pay them to do it.
