Putin's 'Human Rights Council' Accidentally Posts Real Crimean Election Results

As you may recall, the official Crimean election results, as reported widely in the Western press, showed a 97 percent vote in favor of annexation with a turnout of 83 percent. No international observers were allowed. The pro-Russia election pressure would have raised the already weak vote in favor of annexation, of course.

Yesterday, however, according to a major Ukrainian news site, TSN.ua, the website of the President of Russia’s Council on Civil Society and Human Rights (shortened to President’s Human Rights Council) posted a report that was quickly taken down as if it were toxic radioactive waste. According to this purported report about the March referendum to annex Crimea, the turnout of Crimean voters was only 30 percent. And of these, only half voted for the referendum–meaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted for annexation.

Is Putin still the Second Coming? With all his rave reviews on FReerepublic(?) I’m so confuzzled.

How does that compare to the recent election for the Mayor of NYC?

How many times have the Putin worshipers used the fake numbers in threads here?

“And of these, only half voted for the referendum–meaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted for annexation.”

I call B.S. You often see election losers spinning things this way. It would be equally correct to say: “And of these, only half voted against the referendum — meaning only 15 percent of Crimean citizens voted against annexation.” In fact, if “abstention is acquiescence”, that would be more correct.

Please note, I am not saying that this is the case — I’m just calling the article’s author out on his sophistry.

He hasn’t studied them well enough, the Dims would never let the true results out. They have had lots of practice in Chicago for over 100 yrs before they took it nation wide.

Their were report that Ukrainians boycotted the vote or were intimidated. Knuckle duster type intimidation not the folly we see the press hoist here.

When the voting results were first announced, it was clear there was massive fraud involved. No body of voters votes for something in percentages approaching 100%.

There are always two option, and both options will make sense to some people. Anythink over 75% is generally grouds to start thinking there was likely fraud.

Look at Nixon over McGovern. McGovern was a laughing stock, but he still got 37.5% of the vote. 97%? No, just about impossible.

From the article:

Putin plans to repeat the Crimean election farce in the May 11 referendum on the status of the so-called People’s Republic of Donetsk.

Russia does not control Donetsk and will not by this Sunday, May 11th. This is not comparable to the Crimea.

Our media quotes Ukranian sources as if they are gospel, since that is the administration line, which is equivalent to swallowing everything from the Russian media. Now the Ukranians come up with a supposed screen shot and we are supposed to take that at face value.

Forbes degrades its reputation by opining on the Ukraine. A credible news organization should acknowledge that neither side can be trusted and that they, the media, have nothing credible to report. There is no shame in that.

It looks, however, like everyone has sold their soul, including Forbes.

Honestly, I haven’t seen any of these Putin-worshippers. Maybe I’m on the wrong threads or something.

I will admit that I’ve praised Putin once or twice before, but that doesn’t mean that I approve of what he’s doing. The praise was only in that he was a FAR more effective leader than Obama for his own country, and that despite all the bad stuff he’s doing, I can’t help but feel a certain schadenfreude to see him making Obama look like a fool.

Putin is being worshiped by some here as the savior of Western Civilization, returning Christianity to the West, a great Russian patriot, etc.

Even you praise him because you think he is making a fool of America.

Is this where you guys are now? Supporting the Russians in the Cold War?

No, he hasn’t been studying them. If he were, wouldn’t it have been vote now, vote early and, especially, vote often? Thus, a higher turnout?

I wonder if there is a real Obama turnout for the 2012 vote?

Agreed.

I would add to that, though, that there are certain FReepers here, OTOH, that have an absolutisy 80’s mindset. As in: All Russians are Commies!

Remmber the Newsweek magazine title after the 2008 election “We’re all Socialists Now”?

We’re, as in Americans were all Socialists now?

Nope.
