Washington (CNN) - Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will make allies in the key early presidential voting state of Iowa without even going there.
Bush will host a re-election fundraiser for Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad in Coral Gables, Florida on May 22, Branstad's campaign confirmed to CNN.
"With Gov. Bush's popularity and unmatched record as governor of Florida, we believe this will be a very successful fundraiser, and Gov. Branstad is excited to attend. Branstad admires the work Bush has done to manage Florida's finances while focusing on growing the state's economy," Branstad's campaign communications director Tommy Schultz told CNN.

Other than being born Bush, Jeb hasn’t really ever achieved that much.
Every Republican and Conservative in Florida knew that Jeb was very upset with Crist firing all his staff in the first few months of 2007. He had stayed out of that primary and only endorsed Crist after he won the nomination. He also stayed out of the Senate race when the elites wanted Crist over Marco. There are a lot of conservatives in Florida who don’t think he’s all that bad. His real problems are immigration and spending, which is bad enough. But he’s not Crist and is better than a lot of establishment types.
A lot of Florida conservatives like him because he kind of helped Marco behind the scenes in 2010. Not saying that Marco’s so great but just that he’s no Arlen Specter. The best Bush was George W. and even he was brainwashed by the left on economics, which is of course what he studied at Yale, but he’s not as bad as people think. The country’s falling apart, maybe he’ll listen to guys like Cruz just like his father listened to Reagan on a lot of things. I hope a real conservative wins but this guy is no Charlie Crist.
