And this kind of thinking is why over 40 years ago I decided the Arab Israeli dispute was one I would put very little time, attention, or emotion into trying to solve. Once question, if Israel were to become a secular state rather than the theocratic one that it is now, would it still be a Zionist state??

Israel’s not theocratic. Quite secular. Emphasis is being a state for ethnic Jews.

Now “Palestine” is a one-religion state.
