I would have assumed from the ridiculously light sentence that the victim was black. The racism which permeates our judicial system has nothing to do with the race of the defendant and everything to do with the race of the victim. Those who commit crimes against blacks regardless of their race are far less likely to receive maximum punishments as those who commit crimes against whites.
I think this really sucks, but no one ever addresses it. Instead, they make up for it by letting OJ go free.
