Jeb Bush endorses Thom Tillis in North Carolina Senate race (oh, what a surprise!)

Another potential Republican candidate for president has waded into North Carolina's competitive Republican Senate primary with an endorsement.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush offered his stamp of approval Thursday for Thom Tillis, who leads his party's field heading into next week's primary contest.

“Thom Tillis is a proven conservative leader with an impressive track record of results for North Carolina businesses and families,” Bush said in a statement. “His work on key issues like improving education, keeping taxes low and eliminating burdensome regulations is a testament to his leadership as North Carolina’s House Speaker."

"It is critically important that Republicans win a majority in the U.S. Senate," Bush added, "and I am confident that the road to a majority runs through Thom Tillis in North Carolina.”

Although Tillis is favored to take on Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan in the general election, in one of this election cycle's most important Senate races, he will need to win 40 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary election to avoid a run-off with the second-place Republican. A run-off would extend an already-costly primary for two months into July.

Bush's endorsement will no doubt offer a last-minute boost to Tillis, who has also attracted support from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Karl Rove-backed group American Crossroads, which spent $1.6 million on television ads backing Tillis during April.

But there are also powerful forces at work against Tillis. A Libertarian candidate, Greg Brannon, has been endorsed by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who this week told Politico he plans to campaign for Brannon in North Carolina on Monday. And Mark Harris, a Baptist pastor, is backed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, another 2016 Republican contender who appeals to the religious right, and the social-conservative Family Research Council.

The Establishment is pulling out all the stops to prevent a runoff on Tuesday, so that either Kay Hagan will be reelected or they'll have a Liddy Dole/Richard Burr clone in North Carolina.

I will sure be happy when all these primaries are over and we can ALL concentrate on beating the Democrats and pushing Harry Reid to the sidelines.

This one does. If he endorses Tillis then no way do I vote for Tillis.

You do realize that if Boehner and McConnell stay in their leadership positions in 2015 that nothing in D.C will change? They will do NOTHING to repeal Obamacare.

You do realize that Boehner, McConnell, the Bushites and the GOPe absolutely loathe Conservatives and the Tea Party.

Winning the Senate with McConnell will be a hollow victory.

Boehner and McConnell will push for 100% amnesty and increased brutal State Power. The evil RINOs and GOPe as no less evil than the RATs, they just lie to your face and say they are for the Constitution and limited government.

Jeb has endorsed Tillis.

Cruz and Levin have endorsed Greb Bannon.

Please tell all your know to vote for Bannon. Our Republic depends on crushing the will of the likes of the evil Jeb Bush and all the GOPe pukes.

So, I guess by your reasoning that we would be better off with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in charge of the Congress.
This all or nothing mentality results in Democrats winning. Is that what you want?

“Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush offered his stamp of approval Thursday for Thom Tillis”

In celebration of Jebbie’s endorsement of Tillis, I’m sending another donation to Brannon.

Huh? I did not say that at all.

Jeb would love your fears.

The cold hard reality that people like you need to face is that if Beohner and McConnell are the leaders in 2015 is that nothing will change -- the Power of the State will increase.

If you love your Republic, you must tell all you know that Boehner and McConnell are traitors to our Constitution -- they are not on our side

Those who think just voting Republican will make a difference are fools.

There are those of us who cherish our Constitution and Liberty, and those who worship at the Alter of State Power.

These contemptible men, Boehner and McConnell have done nothing to roll back the power of the State.

I admit I was part of the problem -- I kept voting for the lesser of two evils. Never again. 2012 was it for me. If there is the puke Bush or another RINO at the top of the ticket, I will do a write in.

Yeah, next he'll be endorsing lowell weicker R from the honorable state of Connecticut for...I don't know. But you all remember Lowell, who ran for Gov of CT years ago on the promise of NO STATE INCOME TAX!!....within the year, CT had a state income tax.

"Liars on the left of me, liars on my right...here I am stuck...."

You know the rest...

NC Voter here...
Do I care what Jeb thinks....H$&& NO.
Would I vote for Thom Tillis...same answer. Neither of these men have the integrity of GW Bush, although he faltered in the end fiscally. AT this point, I would endorse Sarah Palin, and possibly Chris Cristy (depending on where he is in 2016?)I will reserve judgment on Christy until next year.
Romney cannot win, too much of wus.
Al Gore is a buzzhead, who would not even make a good dog catcher. Biden.....hahahahahaha never.
Ron Paul, Rand Paul, whatever, NO....I voted for Ross Perot, it was a ploy to give the Clintoons the election.

There are no contenders from the past I would consider.

It’s iffy at this point for me as to who would make a good President.
I am keeping an open mind to new faces, new ideas, and someone with courage, integrity, and would do whatever necessary to strip our government of criminals and send a few jerks to jail.
Why don’t you run?

Palin, Cruz, or Pence at this point (maybe Perry). I would vote for Jeb before Christie but both of them are an adamant no.

I cannot run because I do not lie and cannot lie very well. Honest people cannot get fair press coverage and big money backing.

Pence, I had forgotten about him, he was an honest type a guy.
Perry, I liked him but that forgetting could reoccur with disastrous results.
Cruz, I have no idea about him, and need to do some research.

Too bad you can’t run.
