May Day celebrations in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, have turned violent as pro-autonomy activists seized the local Prosecutor’s Office. Police responded with tear gas and stun grenades but later relinquished their weapons.

The storming of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office began as several dozen shield-holding protesters pelted rocks and petrol bombs at the building while chanting “Fascists!,” as they tried to break in.

There were no immediate reports about those injured, but as was seen on a live stream, at least one person was carried from the scene, with someone shouting: “Call an ambulance!” According to the Ukrainian UNIAN agency, several law enforcers were wounded.

The activists demanded that law enforcers come out of the building and surrender, while about 200 police remained inside. Initially, the police hit back with tear gas and stun grenades, but later refrained from using force and took cover under shields as protesters continued to throw stones.

Just yesterday there was a story saying Kiev had sent new police leaders "Loyal to the Government" (Right-Sector?) to Donetsk.

Today, they start shooting rubber bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades at the protestors. Did they learn nothing from Maidan?

The peaceful protestors showed up again today with guns. What would you prefer the Ukrainian government do? Shoot them?

Are you going to answer my question or just post Russian propaganda?

The peaceful protesters brought guns and rocket launchers. What should the Ukrainian government do? Shoot them?

Your post 11 is totally false. There was live video of all this. Weapons were clearly visible carried by masked terrorists.

Your Russian propaganda is worthless with the video evidence. But continue with your fairy tale if you wish.

“My post” is quoting the U.K. Sunday Times Correspondent on the scene.

Since you know so much more than he, perhaps you should tell him, and not me?

I noticed the Stalin flag. A few Communist Party flags are in the crowd, as well.
